I tried to watch at the later show time, I think it was 11:00 PM. I didn't make it 15 minutes. Maybe it was because I was tired and impatient. But I couldn't stand the chick. The acting blew, at least in the beginning. I kind of don't want to give it another shot.

I DVR'd it and will watch today. FWIW I have read numerous people on this board give up on The Wire because it was "too slow". Complaining about subtitles..really?

First thought was modern Underground Railroad. The lock made me think trafficing of some type, either drugs or people.

this is what I was thinking after 15 minutes as well, and almost bailed... but once I realized she had some sort of mental problems, the "shitty acting" made sense

This bitch is bat-shite crazy

Started slow, finished strong... Considering I almost bailed on Justified after the pilot, Ill give this one another few weeks

I liked it. Should be a good show.

Maybe I was wrong... A few of you thought it was decent.

I honestly thought it was shite for the first 30 min. Like I said, all of the other Fx shows hook you in the first 10min (Shield, NipTuck, Americans, SOA) and this one didn't at all.

I actually fell asleep after the first 10 minutes; not because it was a bad show just because I was half drunk. Woke up on the couch this morning at 6 with my Ipad up my arse. Guess I will have to watch it tonight.

You set expectations of shows by what network it's on?

I've never heard of such a thing

Yeah, why wouldn't I

This is an FX show and everything else they have done has been right out of the gate running.

That's just a notion completely foreign to me, I can't even begin to understand it actually.

I'm more or less likely to begin watching a new show based on what network it's on, but if a show's previews/premise look interesting to me, once I decide to give it a chance, it stands on its own. Either I continue to watch it, or not, based on its own merits. I would never compared one show's pilot to another simply because it was broadcast on that network.

I compare crime dramas to crime dramas, syfy to syfy, cop shows to cop shows, etc......

But comparing cross-genre shows simply because they got picked up by the same network doesn't seem to make sense to me.

Im not trying to argue with you, to each his own, but I don't see how this is a bad thing...

I give EVERYTHING on FX a chance and every other show they have done has that clincher within the first few minutes. This is completely different and then paired with the jumping of the storyline and bad acting, turned me off.

Stuck with it through the entire episode. I read on Grantland about the female character's mental issues. So, I had an idea of what I was getting into. I could see the story taking a little time to develop, but I'm willing to give it a few episodes.

Given what the rancher husband said to his wife in the hospital I am more inclined he would be helping people, not the opposite, as she appeared like she could be a major beotch.

I've seen better and worse first episodes. The supposed motive/basis for killing was just meh. Probably watch another 3 or so and then decide, not like a lot of awesome viewing is on Wednesday PM anyway.

I will definitely be watching another episode. There were a couple of awkward acting moments by DK, I admit.

I thought it was pretty good. Don't understand why so many different story lines with all the different groups of people but guess they will come together soon. i.e. guy with girl in trunk, man telling wife he wants a divorce before going into surgery, what's behind that locked door?

It was kinda slow but I liked how it picked up at the end. I kinda got a feeling the rancher was involved in something shady considering he had 2 cell phones. If you had noticed when they went into the old house there was a propane bottle, which could be used to make meth.

The vantage point from inside the cellar looking through a crack at the wife standing outside makes me think someone is inside. I think human trafficking will be the central theme.

I think what's behind the locked door is a Fifty Shades of Grey "Red Room"! That ranch helper looked very scared to show Annabelle

Not familiar.

Agreed. But you wouldn't think it would be anything that could jump out and hurt the wife, so maybe it's not a person.
