The 1st season of "the office" is great, maybe the best

Idk why it got such bad reviews. Its only six episodes but every single one hits the nail in the head in my opinion. Michael, Dwight, and Jim are all at their peak in that season. And I prefer Michael Scott's hair the way it was done

Still a great show from start to season 7 though

I liked it but imo it wasn't the best. It felt like it was still trying to figure itself out in season 1. I will say that diversity day is one of the funniest episodes in the series tho

Seasons 2-3 are the GOAT. Season 4 is probably better than S1 too.

Uh no. It’s great but it’s still finding its way and apeing the UK version a bit.

Season 2-4 are significantly better.

No. Just no.

Seasons 2-4 are about as good as comedy TV gets.

It is amazing how much some of the characters changed from S1 to S2 though, and I’m not just talking about Michaels appearance.

It's the worst season until Michael leaves IMO

This. All of this.

And to think NBC was absurdly close to canceling it after season 1.

Season 2 is my going away favorite. My all time favorite episode is Michael cooked his foot on the George Foreman grill episode “The Injury”. It was perfect from start to finish.

This. They were all funny episodes, but it did seem like it was trying to establish itself.. Find it's identity.

Nah, after watching the series premier I gave up on it and didn't watch another episode until a few months ago. Something was off with Michael, it took a while to get his character right.

Now - I watch 3 or 4 episodes a day. Just outstanding writing. A year ago I went through a Parks and Rec. phase. And while I like Ron Swanson there is no contest, The Office is a much better show.

I thought the same on my initial watch. After watching the entire series and then going through Season 1 again, I felt completely different. I thought Michael was a more realistic dumbass/jackass boss in Season 1 before he became a caricature of that person. He lacked heart and charm in that first season, which I feel his how a typical manager is in a standard office.

That's by no means a negative, though, because his character was fantastic for the entire series.

As much as I love season 1 lack of quantity hurts it. 4 our of 6 episodes are arguably top 10-20 episodes, but seasons 2-4 are all great. I have no issue with anyone that ranks Season 1-4 in any order because they are all easily better than 5-9. Anyone that argues 5-9 being better than any of the first 4 seasons are stupid.

Season 1 is good. Way better than people make it out to be.

How does US version compare to UK? I've watched US version twice but never seen an episode of UK. Worth a watch on Netflix?

Season one from both shows are very similar. UK version is extremely dry, it is like a full season of Scott’s Tots caliber episodes. It is extremely tough for me to sit through it. Not that it’s bad but it’s so cringe inducing.
