Terminator Salvation Is Still The Best Non-T2 Sequel

Sure it wasn’t great and had some major problems but it was still better than the rest of the four sequels. Also it was the only logical conclusion of where to take the story next. The first three had built up this Great War of Humans vs Skynet with the humans getting the win with John leading them.
Genisys was a really bad reboot/what if of the first one, while DF tried to be edgy by offing John but then giving us T2 with a new John only this time a girl version en espanol

Honestly I remember seeing this poster and thinking to myself: “Who the frick is this Sam Worthington guy to get equal billing as Christian Bale?!”
Sam Worthington had not ever even starred in an American movie before this, and he’s being headlined on the same level with Christian Bale straight out of the Dark Knight?! That had to piss Bale off when he saw the marketing. Who the frick is this piss ant? Oh he’s starting in James Cameron’s next film Avatar… I guess that’s why.
Sam Worthington is conclusive proof Satan exists. There’s no way he gets up to that level that quickly being equally billed as Christian Bale (one of the biggest and best actors and stars at the time) with pretty much no experience and then goes on to star in the highest grossing movie of all time. Sorry you sold your soul to Satan to be the star of the biggest blockbuster of all time… and then your career collapsed completely. That’s how Satan works, Sam, you dummy. Should have been more specific than saying “I want to be the star of the highest grossing film of all time.” Zoe Saldana thought it way more through than you did.

A) He literally sold his soul to Satan to star in the highest grossing film of all time.
B) Said highest grossing film was directed by James Cameron and he was The Godfather of this franchise.
Sam Worthington’s rise is dumbfounding outside of supernatural events being involved. It’s not like he was a Peter O’Toole or Christoph Waltz where the director happened to be at the right place right time to find him. The guy was a loser.
First film: 2 million dollars and 35% on RT (when that meant something).
Second film: Grossed $33 million on $70 million budget and had 5 minutes of screentime.
Third film: $5 million on $3 million budget
Fourth film: $2.1 million on $4 million budget
Fifth film: $908K on unknown budget
Sixth film: $10.8 million on $80 million budget
Seventh film: $230K on unknown budget
Eighth film: $4.6 million on $25 million budget
Ninth film: $371 million on $200 million budget (Terminator Salvation and his star power barely makes back the marketing costs)
Tenth film: $2.847 billion on $237 million budget
How is that possible he could ascend that high and have all that shite in his background and be an exceptionally shitty actor? I don’t think James Cameron is gay, so he didn’t sleep his way to the top. He’s completely talentless, so he didn’t just get discovered. The simplest answer is he sold his soul to Satan in a cruel joke. Pray for him because he’s going to need it since his career basically since Avatar has been as big of a joke as before it.

Can you imagine Chris Hemsworth in that role in Salvation?

Sam Worthington, Boyd Holbrook, Joel Edgerton, Joel Kinnamon, and Jai Courtney are interchangeable. I’d argue that Courtney and Holbrook would have struggled to pull the role off in Altered Carbon but that’s about it.
Put any of them in any other role and they’d their movies would be the same quality.
ETA: Salvation is incredibly mediocre for its cast but I agree it’s the third best film by a mile. Bale phoned that role in and I’m fairly disappointed. But it’s better than T3, Genasys, or Dark Fate by a lot.

Hell yeah. Plus it was loaded with little callbacks to T2. Right down to John getting the T2 facial scar at the end.
Genisys was fricking stupid. Then they offed young john in a really shitty movie and the series can go frick itself.
For me, it's
T1 - T2 - T3 - Salvation. It, like Game of Thrones past season 6, is non canon and doesn't exist to me.
Starry Eyes was a fun movie.

He’d be much better, but to be honest I’m a bit frustrated with Kevin Fiege not realizing that Hemsworth is actually funny until halfway through the MCU. Thor: The Dark World would have been much better if he realized this. This scene was improvised by Hemsworth for instance:

Yeah. He was really funny in the first one, then they hammed him up too much as Shakespeare in the Park in Thor:DW and Avengers.
Ultron for its flaws let him have a bit more humor.

Yeah, cast isn’t at fault for that at all. I really think it was an overreaction to Man of Steel. Let it have a similar tone as Infinity War but more disturbing, could have been great.

I hated this movie. I know my opinion won't be well received. But I liked the rev 9 splitting into 2. It's the best killing machine since T2. I didn't hate the storyline like I did the others either.

I just thought it was lazy basically killed of John so they could redo T2 with a new version of John only this time I couldn’t care for this girl

I can’t argue with anything you said as inherently wrong, but god damn do you hate some Sam Worthington

Likely not since Bale wasn't supposed to be a lead or have a major role and literally forced that into the movie, which is what screwed everything up.

There is no reason to watch any films in this franchise outside of the first 2.

I found John Conner being turned into a Terminator to be both kind of cool and kind of annoying. The idea of humans being "assimilated" is kind of cool.
