8:00 PM Thunderball (1965)
10:30 PM You Only Live Twice (1967)
12:45 AM Marnie (1964)
3:15 AM The Hill (1965)
5:30 AM The Man Who Would Be King (1975)

These times are Eastern.

quote:

Though he was already established as an actor on the rise, Sean Connery blasted into international stardom when he surpassed several other name actors to become James Bond for the first installment of the decades-long spy franchise, "Dr. No" (1962). ...

Seems like Sean would be deserving of more than an evening.

If you’ve never seen this movie, by all means set your DVR.

Very few films that I’ve seen have had a profound emotional impact on me. This is one of them.

for anyone in new orleans, the Prytania Theater has been showing Goldfinger and From Russia with Love nightly. Saw the latter last night.

In my opinion, the best two are the ones showing in the early morning hours of Thursday. If you haven't seen either, you should set your DVR.

Here's a scene from The Hill

Fantastic movie. Sean Connery and Michael Caine are perfect for their roles and have great chemistry. John Huston knew how to make a movie.

He’s actually on TV quite a bit, so it’s not like a 5 movie marathon will be your only chance to remember him.

TCM is the only channel I know of that plays the non-Bond, and non Military movies. It pisses me off that they're showing two Bond movies in the best time slots. They shouldn't be showing You Only Live Twice because it's probably his worst Bond movie. Half a dozen channels show Bond movies every week. They should show something that will be new to a few people.

TCM used to be better than that.

I like it better than Diamonds Are Forever and maybe Thunderball (which is hard to beat for hot arse women).

What a fricked up, uncomfortable film to sit through (like many prison films) but damn it's one dramatic piece of work by Connery and everyone else.

I believe it's and early Sydney Lumet film. It also is just a dower damn ending and film. Connery is great, though, and did it during the height of Bond-mania.

All you need to know is four words:

Michael Caine...
Sean Connery...

If you're not in on that, then you're not a real cinema fan.
