It was Obi Wan’s intelligence and strategy that led to his victory over Anakin. Only Anakin’s impulsiveness and ego led to his defeat. Obi Wan could not have lasted much longer in the fight.

What say you?

The high ground negates talent.

T.

This is pretty much understood knowledge. Obi Wan however was still much more mature and wiser than Anakin, and used this to his advantage.

Yes however you would have to reference material other than the prequels to come to that conclusion.

Also someone jumping directly into your lightsaber is not strategy.

He was more powerful than anyone outside of Sidious and Yoda but he had the potential to surpass both.

Well Anakin/Vader ultimately won in the end. So I'd say true.

Revenge of The Sith:

Obi Wan: "It's over Anakin! I have the high ground!"

Return of the Jedi:

Luke kicks Vader down the stairs, thereby gaining the high ground.

Vader: "Obi Wan has taught you well".

Coincidence?

I think not.

True.

Anakin would've been the most powerful person in the galaxy had he not lost on Mustafar. He was so powerful that he could basically play with the force, but he was undisciplined with a lightsaber.

Obi wan learned a major lesson from the Darth Maul fight.

Yep. He was never truly trained properly to take advantage of his power. Everyone was afraid of him actually realizing his abilities. If we are talking about pure power, by the time he fought Obi Wan, he was probably the most powerful Jedi/Sith alive, just on pure power. He was still just so young and immature, he would have still lost to Palpatine and Yoda if they fought.

This came to play more in the stuff set between the OT but I remember some books had Vader trying to heal himself in that chamber in Empire.

Had he not been so untrained and tainted by the darkside he probably would have completely regenerated in a few days time.

His brief encounter with Luke on Bespin and meditation after was enough to repair his lungs a tiny bit as he touched the Light.

T, in terms of raw power Anakin was more powerful than anyone we’ve seen. He had potential to harness that and become more powerful even than Yoda, Sidious, Windu, etc. The Jedi were afraid of that very thing though which is why the council warned Qui-Gon then Obi-Wan about it for years.

He was flawed, not all of which was his fault. He started training late and never really received as thorough a training as the others did. Then when he fought Obi-Wan he was brash, young, arrogant, and above all inexperienced so he made a critical mistake. Obi-Wan, one of the wisest and most battle tested of the Jedi, took advantage.

Said it before, Obi-Wan didn't win because he had the high ground, he won because he's Obi-Wan MF Kenobi and he had the high ground

Without a doubt true. Obi-wan wasnt a slouch and was quite powerful himself he just had more training and strategic which allowed him to overcome Anakin who was raw power.
