They filmed the mall scenes in the mall I used to work at when I was in high school. Even put the B Dalton Booksellers back in its original place.

I think one more season, that one set in 86, would be perfectly ok. Though I disagree 87 wouldn’t feel like peak 80’s. I think peak 80’s was 82-87. So if they wanted to do season 5 that would be ok. Though I think S4 needs to be the stopping point

87 was definatly the end of what we all love most about 80s nostalgia, but 87 to me just seems so synonymous with Guns n Roses and hair bands and such -- not really the vibe Stranger Things conjures.
It's obviously still in the ballpark as the previous years, but the hair styles and all really began changing in 87, and so did pop culture so it would have to be the final year of the series no matter what.
