The first half of season 1 is a little too much Monster of the Week which I didn't like. But about halfway through they start following some very good long term story arcs.

Seasons 1-5 May have the best overall story arc of any tv show. Perfect setup perfect ending.
You can keep watching after that though. Quality drops here and there. But overall still a fun show that my wife and I both greatly enjoy.

Season 1 is okay for reason posted above. Season 2-5 is right up there for GOAT for network television.

Excellent show.
Even after the GOAT story arc it's still very fun. Sam and Dean's chemistry is top notch.

This is what got to me. After S5, i just felt disconnected to the show. It wasn't that it was bad like HoC where I quit altogether, it felt like a different show but same characters. Dick Roman imo is an interesting villain, better than all of the Walking Dead villains except for Neagan obviously but I couldn't stay on after I finished out that storyline.
Otoh I know ppl who binged watched seasons 1-11 then 12 in about two months time.

Every time a new season comes on Netflix I'll watch the entire series over again. I've done that probably since season 8 or 9. And my last rewatch didn't even take a month.
Now that doesn't mean I'm watching every single episode w/ all of my attention. I've seen them all so many times that I'll watch it in the background while I'm cooking, playing PS4 or cleaning and when I go to sleep. You can run through the show pretty quick if you've seen it before. But people doing that for the first time, that's impressive

Like they said, seasons 1-5 are just greatness.
My favorite episodes are during those.

There are great episodes in late seasons too.
