First prediction is I am probably wrong about all my predictions

In the end it is a movie about the Skywalker family. The Rey scenes just look like the Luke scenes from a New Hope, so I am guessing he is her father.

Han appears to be getting all the screen time from the original cast. Normally I would say it's because Harrison Ford is the biggest star; however, in the Star Wars universe Mark Hamill is king. So, that makes me think this is Han's send off. What better way to go in Star Wars than being struck down by your own son, Kylo Ren.

The Finn character will likely be something dumb like Lando's kid simply because everyone has to be intertwined in the Star Wars galaxy. Would be cooler if if we're a distant relative of Mace Windu, but I don't think they want JJ to remind people of the prequels.

Luke will be the most powerful Jedi we have ever seen on the big screen.

I sadly agree.

I do love all the interatmospheric (is that a word?) shots with the spacecraft.

Is the Japanese trailer a spoiler? If not it needs to be in the OP.

For some reason I wouldn't mind if Han, Luke, or Leia gets killed. Just not Chewy. Actually Han and Chewy were my favorite characters in the original trilogy.

I also hope the bad guy is the ultimate badass like Vader was. Don't kill him off in one movie either.

Yeah I don't want Chewie to die either.
I think either he or Han may die though. Peter Mahew can barely walk (they can easily recast though) and I doubt Harrison Ford is up for three to four years of filming and promotions.

I won't say it was a spoiler but I honestly wish I hadn't watched it. It kinda gives away the first act. Unless I'm wrong, which happens sometimes. But I would suggest not watching it.

Why the frick did that get downvoted? It was a reasonable and slightly helpful response. None of my typical hyperbole or silly drama, why the downvote? I wanna serious fricking answer!

Yea, I think I'm done with watching new footage too. I'm starting to feel like I've already seen too much.

I think the story will be very similar to A New Hope w/o Death Star exploding.

I think Luke or Han dies.

I think Rey is Luke's daughter and Kylo is Han and Leia's son.

The Prequel Trilogy gave shout outs to the Original, so the new trilogy is going to have much of the same shout-outs.

We'll see Luke for only a small period of time, he'll train our new Jedi Knight, and be killed in the first and only light-saber battle he fights in against the sith lord who will be our major bad guy through the new trilogy.

Han and Chewy will be along for the entire ride, and he'll probably perform a few hanjobs.

The new heroes (Black Stormtrooper and the Tatooine chick) will get major character development, the former realizing he's fighting for the Nazis, the latter realizing she can't do things on her own.

Our Sith Lord is the bad guy for the episode. He will kill Luke, barely be defeated in the end, and be a precursor for the true bad guy of the series. We'll find out his true backstory during Episode 8.

Also I think they will have nothing from the Prequels and no references to the Prequels.

A trailer is a trailer

Common sense, I just don't want to have any plot point explicitly ruined for me

Alright, here are some of my predictions.

First on what the Force Awakens means: The Force awakening will be a mass empowering event in order to create more Force Conscious people. The Emperor and Vader hunted almost all of them down during the Empire, and the Force is reempowering itself by creating more Force Conscious people. This is the primary start of the plot.

Now for characters.

1) Rey: Daughter of Luke, although Luke has gone into hiding. She's been raised by Han who sends her out to scavenge for him. While already Force Conscious, the Force Awakening makes her much more aware of it. She is completely oblivious that Luke is her father and Han will have to tell her.

2) Finn: A Stormtrooper who is hunted down once it's discovered he's Force Conscious. Rey saves him from the Stormtroopers, and he somehow gets Anakin's lightsaber, which makes Kylo Ren want to hunt him down even further. Finn also knows about the Starkiller Base, which makes him sort of like R2D2 in this version carrying the plans.

3) Kylo Ren: Son of Leia and Han. Kylo turning dark completely ripped Han and Leia apart. While initially not gifted with the Force, once it is awakened within him, he turns into the biggest badass in the Galaxy instantly having studied the principles of the Force his whole life. He's obsessed with Vader and hunts down Finn with a vengeance due to finding Anakin's lightsaber.

4) Han: He has turned into quite the drunk these days when his son goes over to the First Order, and has been instructed by Luke to go watch after his daughter Rey. He has since raised her from a teenager. Han now runs a junk shop of Jakku, but when word of Finn reaches him and his knowledge of what the First Order is up to, Han comes out of retirement and knows he needs to track down Luke. They find the Falcon (which is buried in the desert somewhere) and leave. End of the Second Act, Han is killed by his son Kylo.

5) Princess Leia: Now official head of the "Rebels". She's not a full Jedi but has some knowledge of the Force more so than in the original trilogy. She's now a highly savy politician. Not sure where to go from there.

6) Luke: Luke is in hiding now thinking that the knowledge of the Force is better left off gone. He trained Snoke shortly after the events of Return of the Jedi, and now lives in regret with Snoke and his nephew going to the Dark Side and wishing to destroy the universe. Luke won't come in until the very end, with some hints of him and R2.

7) Snoke: Luke's former apprentice who betrays and nearly kills him, and convinces a sizable portion of the new Republic to join with him, with Galaxy erupting into a new civil war.

Those are my thoughts, but I still feel pretty blind and did not watch the Japanese trailer since they tend to spoil everything.
