Jon Snow is a lot like Ned. The scene with little finger in the crypts really drove it home for me in the last episode. No guile at all.

Little finger says this in Season 1

Telling Cercei you know the truth was about pride. Dumbass. Robb "falling in love" as a 17 year old is a joke. Cat is the dumbest of all, but she isn't a Stark really. Look at her sister ffs. Sansa is by far the worst. She should be dead, imo.

He's shown a lot more political savvy that Ned ever did. He's not as tied to his honor as Ned was. If he was then the wildling would be on the other side of the wall and Jon would be Lord commander of the NW right now

Also why do you attention whores feel the need to start a new thread that's only gonna last 2 pages at the most?

Post it in a goddamn episode thread.

They're not stupid. They just want to make things right without playing the stupid game. They always seem to dominate in fair fights but lose to cheaters.

honorable but not marked by it to an extreme degree. ned wouldn't have abandoned his post as far as jon did, ned wouldn't have banged that hot piece of wildling and would rather allow himself to be killed than to break his oath while undercover.

but since he's not a stark, he's not a moron.

so many poor decisions that can't be explained away by honor.

ned told cersei he knew about the kids while Robert was away. that's a two pronged mistake as it arms her with information from which to act accordingly and while Robert is gone, hand of the king or not, she is the most powerful person in king's landing. he also does so without an understanding of the loyalties she holds behind the scenes. at that point all he had was his guard which had mostly been murdered.

he escalated the situation with Jaime by saying cat acted on his orders which wasn't true.

the starks pretty much started the entire war. so many decisions that had they not been such imbeciles, the whole war could have been avoided. varys told ned to serve the realm and I agree with varys that ned's honor is self gratification and vanity. he's no better than the rest.

I always thought so but rewatching now and having 7 seasons of foreknowledge makes you understand the full cost of their stupidity.

Arya is impulsive, but I'm certain she's the smartest of the Starks.

arya stealing that communication from tywin for example was stupid, but the other starks consistently make poor choices obvious to everyone but themselves with ample time to consider things.

ETA: and with the benefit of other people to advise them.

Ned was politically naïve. His "Honor" was his tragic flaw, but when the true test came, he caved. He should have told the absolute truth at the beheading and let the chips fall where they may.

quote:

Robb did countless stupid things that resulted in his death.

He was too young and thrust into a position of responsibility too soon. Had Ned lived 10 more years or so, Robb would have been a fantastic Warden of the North. A natural born leader, like Crazy Horse or Nathan Bedford Forrest.

quote:

Cat pretty much started the entire war when she took tyrion.

Cat and Cersei are more alike than different. Difference is - Cat had Hoster and then Ned as balancing forces in her life. Cersei had Jaime (before his recent maturing process), Tywin and then Robert.

quote:

Sansa was obsessed with Joffrey even though it was clear he was a sadistic shite.

Stupid girl is growing up quickly though (in the show - keep in mind, we're way off the path of the novels with this story).

quote:

Bran may not be as stupid but we'll see if there are consequences to his crossing the wall.

Dude - you can't see there is a non-temporal pull for him to be the 3-Eyed Crow? He's always been the 3-Eyed Crow and always will be. Crossing the wall doesn't fall into the realm of "bad decision" - it just sort of falls into the category of crossing the wall.

And Jon is showing the best traits of Ned and Robb. And he's a Stark, just not THE Stark. Related to that - I'm trying to figure out who takes over Winterfell -

Rickon dead in the show (and maybe that's a preview of his cul-du-sac in the books ) - if that bears out in the novels, Jon - while technically legitimized is highly likely going to die fighting the WWs/Others/Night King as TPTWP (or part of it - the Dragon has 3 Heads after all). If not, he's technically a Targ. Sansa is female.

They would have to go with another Stark line - of which we know nothing. Probably not even a Winterfell line if there is one or use matrilineal rules to make Sansa the Stark in Winterfell.

Assuming the army of the dead doesn't kill them all...
