Someone posted in the other thread about iconic action movie characters tied to actors such as Sly with Rambo (and Rocky but not an "action movie"), Arnold with Terminator, Bruce Willis with John McClane, etc..

What are the iconic roles/actors that have originated in the past 20 years? I think the "role" should have to be the undisputed lead of the movie to count (no ensemble movies?). Also do we count comic book movies, maybe only if there is a true lead, thinking Wesley Snipes in Blade? Does Hollywood even really make these type of movies anymore?

Vin Diesel's character in the Fast & Furious series?

I haven't seen them all, but he seems to be the undisputed lead based on trailers.

John Wick is a good choice, its already a cult classic and will be around for a long time.

Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. I consider Harry Potter to be a series of action movies, in a sense.

Jason Bourne - Matt Damon

The last movie sucked, but whenever I see him in something else it usually makes me want to watch the original Bourne trilogy.

They're pretty much dead. Only ones coming to mind

Chris Hemsworth
Channing Tatum
Tom Hardy
Keanu Reeves

These are relatively poor compared to what we had.

Jason Bourne is probably the perfect example.

I guess you could also include Tom Cruise with the Mission Impossible movies, but he is also an older guy. Also while I like those movies I'm unsure if his role is really "iconic".

His Riddick character definitely counts though

How about some female roles for flavor

Mila Jovovich - Alice (resident evil)
Kate Beckinsale - Selene (Underworld)

Does it have to be started in the last 20 years

Recent comebacks
Bruce Cambell - Ash
Mark Hamill - Luke Skywalker
Harrison Ford - Indiana Jones/Han Solo

Qualifies

Johnny Depp - Jack Sparrow
Orlando Bloom - Legolas

maybe
Liam Neesom - Bryan Mills (taken)

Daniel Craig as Bond has been iconic, there is a reason they offered him $100 million for 1 more movie. Many, including myself, now think he is the second best version of the character. Some people even like him better than Connery.

Viggo Mortenson, though many of his action flicks lean more thriller than action. But his role in LOTR was definitely iconic.

Tom Hardy for sure. Dude has a fantastic action resume. Just pick a movie and role.

I think these 2 come really close. I know those actresses have done many movies in other genres, but I think a lot of people would identify those actresses primarily with those characters.
