So maybe these could still happen at Sony.

According to Deadline, Marvel Studios will not produce any further Spider-Man films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, due to an inability between Sony Pictures and Disney to reach new terms that would have given Disney a co-financing stake moving forward.

EXCLUSIVE: Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige won’t produce any further Spider-Man films because of an inability by Disney and Sony Pictures to reach new terms that would have given the former a co-financing stake going forward. A dispute that has taken place over the past few months at the top of Disney and Sony has essentially nixed Feige, and the future involvement of Marvel from the Spider-Man universe, sources said.

Sources said there are two more Spider-Man films in the works that are meant to have director Jon Watts and Tom Holland front and center. Unless something dramatic happens, Feige won’t be the lead creative producer of those pictures.

Leave it to Sony to be too stupid to realize that they need the MCU waaaaaayyyyyyyy more than the MCU needs Spider-Man.

The Deadline article goes into more detail about their arrangement. Basically it looks like Sony was happy with the almost $900 million that Venom made and believe they can do their own Spideyverse.

So does this mean a Tom Holland Spiderman film out of continuity with the MCU?

Basically marvel helped them make more money off the franchise than they ever have before, and after asking for a 50/50 split Sony flat rejected the deal and didnt even make a counter offer, they instead wanted to keep things the same.

Pretty obvious that SONY would do this eventually. Marvel doesn't want any part of SONY's shitty Sinister Six universe stuff in the MCU so they think they can do it on their own after Marvel did the hard work.
How long is Tom Holland locked in for? I wouldn't be shocked if he bailed after his contractual obligations.

I mean, they can but are they just going to have Holland's Spider-Man pretend like Tony Stark never existed?

That sucks. How fast you think it will take for the MCU to plug in Tom Holland as the new Iron Man?

God fricking damnt Sony

I'm curious what his contract looks like. If it's just with Marvel, does he even have to do the Sony movies? If it doesn't specifically say its for Spiderman, can Marvel use him for another character? That would be weird though.

If such a shite stain of a movie can make that kind of dough, nothing surprises me.

I gave up on that movie after 15-20 minutes. If I were Tom Hardy, I would be livid that it made so much money I had to do a sequel. Although he kind of sleepwalked through that movie.
