Patient escapes from the hospital, jumps off roof, lands on George's car (parked perfectly equidistant from the car in front and the car behind) and splat. Poor bastard got fricked IMO.
The hospital admin is a bitch for accusing him of trying to "profit" either way.

George just needs to step off.
The patient probably had lupus and just couldn't take it anymore.

Absolutely the hospital should have paid for George's car. He got screwed. If the patient was that crazy they should have had him strapped down.

A good lawyer would have got him a settlement.

Definitely.
If that were in court, the hospital would've been hit with negligence for letting a mentally ill patient jump to his death.
No doubt would've gotten full payment for rendering an otherwise fine vehicle inoperable.
