this just an inevitable course for successful businesses? Stagnation equals death, so just keep moving towards a monopoly until the government kills you? Or you become the government?

I know this is M/TV board, but that is the inevitable fate of capitalism.

It is better than socialism, but it ultimately leads to the same result as you suggest: a business gains so much capital and influence that it effectively controls government by proxy. Successful corporations dont need to become politicians to control your life, that's what lobbyists are for.

Socialism fails because it goes for direct government takeover and doesnt offer social mobility. Capitalism allows for social mobility while letting the most successful parties control government with their wealth.

Member when Disney nearly got bought out by Polaroid in a hostile takeover? I member.

They’ve come a long way from the 1980s when the whole company was in the shitter.

You don’t think they have WalMart Stores Inc. in their eyesight???

It would be easy to change out the signs to a real life BnL logo...

Walmart’s are just ground based Axiom’s anyway...fat people riding around drinking a cupcake in a cup.

Only company to lose $$$ on a Star Wars Film. That's a world of embarrassment.

Kind of easy to become a monopoly, when you lobby government for protection... Micky Mouse protection act.

I thought Universal owned Marvel? So how does Universal Theme Park have the rights to Spiderman, Hulk, Iron man etc...

The same way Fox and Sony had the rights to the X-Men, Spider-Man, etc. Marvel used to sell unending licensing of their characters. As long as you keep using them, they’re yours to use.

Walmart is worth an estimated $386B. Disney is worth about $150B. So no.

If WalMart bought Disney I could die a happy death.
