I mean it just wasn't funny. They went for a Cajuns accent and ended up with
Foghorn Leghorn and butchered every pronunciation. Atchafalaya was especially bad.

No one here remembers Adam Sandler doing Cajun Man? Or was that not offensive because it was funny?

It was accurate and celebrated the culture.

ETA I was referring to the Sandler comment.

I'm not offended by it, I just thought it wasn't funny. If it's funny, it's all good.

they're clearly trying to create a new recurring character but it just fails all around

A) Beck Bennett tried to do Sudeikis from Maine Justice and missed the mark considerably. He ruined what could have been a fun skit.

B) Y’all take yourselves so fricking seriously sometimes my god. There’s no other state in the country they do these outlandish skits for. Take it as a damn compliment that we’re unique that SNL put a hot pepper and a gator that graduated from Tulane in a political round table skit. It’s a comedy show.

ETA: Where was the outrage around Maine Justice? It’s the same crap except Bennett is in way over his head whereas Sudeikis made the Maine Justice skits.

So they took Cajun man and put a political twist on it? Wasn’t very funny. Not worse than the Boston type of skits they have done in the past.

Look like they relied on the accent to get the laughs and the substance wasn’t there. Seen better skits, but seen worse too.

Maine Justice was funny, and at times, really REALLY funny. We're not offended because they're poking fun at Louisiana. We're offended that they're not doing it well.

That was a poor re-tread of Maine Justice.

They tried the same exact formula pretty much with a different lead. Let’s be honest. People are pissed because of the content in the sketch, not because of the Louisiana connection.

No. The difference is the portrayal by that lead. The premise isn't bad, in fact, it's pretty funny. The problem was in the portrayal. Jason owned the roll and had a lot of fun with it, like he was laughing at how over-the-top silly it was. Bob was trying to play the silly role straight, and that is, in large part, what made the sketch not funny. The other issue with the sketch was Seth Meyers who, in theory, by being smarmy and out of touch with the rest of the panel, could have been funny. Instead, he just didn't really add anything.

With a better cast, the same premised sketch might have been funny.

I mean, how do you barely manage to get two chuckles out of a sketch that includes an alligator that graduated Magna Cum Laude?

there was a clear point and punch line (reality TV pretending to be filmed outside of LA when it was clearly in LA)

the skit last night was all over the place with no real point or punchline. it was just "crazy voices and characters being crazy"

That was Cajun blackface as well. Imagine if someone like Larry the Cable Guy did a Jewish character.

The Boston skits featured comedians from Boston doing slight exaggerations of actual Boston accents.

The joke was that they were in Maine, acting like cliche parodies of Cajuns. It had an actual comedic twist to it.

This shite last night was just crap thrown at a wall.

Nobody is mad they make fun of Louisiana. It’s just not funny. You’re taking a huge leap by calling that garbage “comedy.” Like someone in here said, they don’t even know what they’re satirizing. I have a hard time believing anyone laughs at SNL anymore
