Sequels vs Original

Obviously a topic from Scream 2, but I’m rewatching Rush Hour and Rush Hour 2 and everything in the sequel is better: relationships, action, comedy, women, etc.
What other sequels are better than the original?

This is one I’ve always struggled with. I felt it was kind of slow in parts and the fact that Heath Ledger died after the movie always sort of gave this move more pizzazz than it's worth. A lot of ethical questions are brought up in the movie but I always thought they weren’t deep enough, for whatever reason.

It was probably the drug angle and the better action scenes. I also found it to have more funny parts. I mean, the whole thing with Reggie coming over to pick up Megan for a date. Marcus ingesting the X. Marcus and his donut. The scene at the electronics store. I could go on.

League of Shadows is better than the first Sherlock Holmes movie
Back to the Future 2 is better than the first one, which was in and of itself, nearly a perfect movie.
