Great 1985 movie that's a bit under the radar, IMO. The acting is a little spotty in parts, I'll admit, but the cinematography and soundtrack are pretty awesome! I Highly recommend. Jon Voight, as always, is awesome. On Amazon.

That Denzel movie (which I liked) completely ripped this movie off.

Friend,

This film came up as "Movie You Might Like" in my Amazon feed. It sounded interesting, so I watched it. It was terrible, though. It was shocking to me that both Voight and Roberts were nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor for their adequately, but by no means well, acted parts. The cinematography and special effects were horrid, and the story was predictable and uninteresting. It certainly fits the bill for a bad 80s movie.

Friend,

The greatest movie ever produced, The Tree of Life, has a sub 7 score on IMDB. Please do not use cumulative ratings to determine a movie's quality. Runaway Train, by no fault of your own or insult to yourself, is a bad movie.

I remember watching it with my mama one time when it was tv a long time ago. Don't remember much about it, but did run across the dvd not long ago for cheap and picked it up. Been meaning to give it a watch.

This movie was a sleeper in the 80's.

Watched it again recently and still holds up as a great action flick with depth. It never lets up.

Oh and it's an 80's...

Flick

So you know its good.

Weren't you also the guy that gave rave reviews to a Justin Beiber movie?

Runaway Train is a child of 123 Pelham and a predecessor of Speed.

It's fully entertaining.

it was a fricking Cannon movie

I haven't seen it in over 30 years, but Firewalker was an entertaining movie. Had Louis Gossett, Jr. and Chuck Norris.

Why do so many consider Runaway Train to be an 80's movie about a runaway train?

It is based in an elderly man's heart attack. Clearly, the man's heart troubles began before the 1980's, and the train is only a sidelight to his death.

I have a hard time watching movies with trains in them as they get about everything wrong. This one included.

If by the Denzel movie you mean Unstoppable, it was even worse for errors.

*I ran both of the locomotives that starred in Unstoppable. They were leased from the railroad I worked for.
