He said this:
Considering he killed himself and his passenger, I think it was appropriate.

He pointed out correctly that Ryan Dunn was a fricking idiot who killed himself and a passenger by flying down the highway at an excess rate of speed (to say the least) while absolutely smashed. boo fricking hoo
I'm sure the passenger's family was more outraged by the tweet than the idiot driver who killed their son

Yes seriously. I vaguely recall reading about that guy killing himself and his friend, but was not familiar with him otherwise. Strange as it may seem, there are actually people who never watched Jackass.

Right, B list celebrities get a two month period of blind sympathy before we point out that they were driving like maniacs while drunk and killed someone in bringing about their own idiotic demise

I honestly had to pause for a second to think where I knew that name. I honestly won't remember his name in 10-15 years. I'll just remember him as the bearded dude from Jackass.

I'm sorry to hear he passed away. He was an interesting guy and a great example of a guy remaking himself in the career which he found himself. I very much enjoyed reading his reviews and will miss knowing a guy I grew up watching on television is still kicking around somewhere.
RE: Ryan Dunn? Holy crap you Jackass fans. Ebert didn't go nearly far enough for anyone who has ever lost a friend or loved one to a drunk driver. It is beyond me how a fan-base who enjoy Jackass material could be so hyper-sensitive to simple criticism when the Ryan was apparently driving 130 mph. Hearing that didn't make me sad that he had died... it made me furious with him for being such a gigantic prick who didn't care if he killed other people.

woah and wow...
So your whole world awareness is narrowed to stuff that happened the last two years?
Where were you when Ebert started with Siskel?
Do you know about his Great Movies Books? (hint: Jackass isn't in any of them)
Have you ever read his award winning blog?
Do you know what color is the boathouse at Hereford?
Do you know anything that isn't transitory beyond a 15-minutes of fame?

Yeah but how many times did Ebert stick a toy car up his arse?

I just read Ebert's latest blog post last night and it kind of makes sense now. It seems like it was his way of saying goodbye without saying goodbye. Still can't believe he's gone.
