To be honest, the last few months, I’ve been pretty pitch black bummed with no positive thoughts about my life. Hard to describe. I’ve kept somewhat active with small time fillings tasks I get some marginal entertainment from and that kept me engaged on a marginal level.

Watching rocket man was cathartic. Watching John self sabotage himself and come back from that was just really nice to see. And I’ve never really felt moved to action after a movie and I know I’ve need change for awhile but for some reason, this movie kinda struck home

This film gets a recommendation from me.

Great if a movie can speak to you on a positive level.

I'm a little hesitant as it seems to be as much of a singing-and-dancing musical as a biopic. But I guess I should check it out.

It didn’t really have a vibe like a classical musical. It had a lot of regular dialogue in addition to the singing, and most of the singing was in a performance context. The beginning of the movie had more of a musical vibe, but once Elton became famous, there wasn’t too much of that going on.

I read this whole thing thinking Rocketeer. Glad you enjoyed the movie though and hope it helps you out of the funk.

The sing and dance fits in the narrative perfectly fine.

The movie begins with him entering rehab and him going back and remembering what brought him to the realization he can’t do this on his own and needs to ask for help. The songs are tied to specific moments of his life. It works fine.

As mentioned above, the big production song and dance a la La La Land are more towards the beginning where the big music numbers in the second half are more straight feeding into the story.

It was pretty good. Don’t know if I’d watch it again though

The title keeps making me think this is a Rocketeer movie.

I hope it's better than that one they did on Freddie Mercury.

You see a bare butt and some kissing. Honestly, other than the sheer novelty of seeing it in a major studio picture with serious heterosexual actors, I think it’s fairly tame.

So not like G.O.T with Renly and the Knight of Flower.

There is only one Rocketman movie, and it probably has one of the greatest turns on any astronaut/space film ever:

For real though: Thanks for your candid review.

the wife and I caught it last night - was a really great movie. some of what was in it i knew about Elton, but i had no idea all of what he went through.

from what he went through in life, to saving himself and becoming the man he is now is inspiring.

We've all been there bro. Never feel too scared to reach out to family and friends. Even if you haven't spoken to them in awhile. I wish you the best.
