Aech wasnt that close, she was in the Northeast. This change didnt bother me though. I do see someone is writing a movie script for Armada, clines next book. It was an ok story but very childish in simple in the way it was written.

Just started reading the book. About 4 chapters in and amazed already at how different it is than the movie. and holy shite the author loves name dropping the nostalgia. No doubt a ploy to increase the word count.

Finally got to see the movie last night. Watched on the Dolby Cinema experience.

I was really surprised at how much was changed . Who did what in the film etc. I still think they did a great job of getting the spirit of the book into the movie and that is what made it great.

I love that the curator was OG and thats how he gets the extra life. I loved the interaction with OG in the book and at first I thought he would be a real nothing burger in the movie.

I loved that Sorrento's avatar was Bizarro SUperman
Does anyone know who IROK's AVATAR was supposed to be ?

Saw the movie last night. I expected this, and I felt they did a decent enough job. The race scene was done to add action, but it was a bit bland to me. I think it was good how they used ideas from the three gates in the book to create new ones for the movie, and The Shining scene was much better than reciting War Games.

Overall it was a good movie, but there were some really bad moments that kept it from being very good or even great.

The worst that hurt the movie big time: Artemis knowing where Wade lived. This was lazy writing to speed along the story, and it makes absolutely zero sense. Then to run with the cliched headfake of kidnapping him to create stupid suspense only to reveal it was his ally all along was a complete shite show. That's terrible writing.

Speielburg nailed this movie as he always does by giving it heart. I think this is what he excels at, and it's why even his bad movies are enjoyable to watch.

IROK had figured out where Wade lived with the exact same information that Artemis had so its not far fetched to believe she could find him just as fast as IROK

As for WHY she had someone sent to collect him that made a little less sense. Its possible after IOI tried to attack them at the Dance Planet that she figured he was in danger in real life too and though her people could protect him.

Saw it today. Never read the book, so didnt have that to compare the film to, but I really liked it. Visually stunning and the 80's references were amazing.

It did seem to be a tad bit too long though if I had any complaint

Tagged along with the teens for spring break. I enjoyed it. They read the book and struggled with how different it was. My gaming oldest got the feels at the end with the thanks for playing my game.

TJ Miller fit the role of the book IROK better than the movie version. In the book he was a dumbass that try’s way too hard. Didn’t like the mercenary angle. I understand the changes in the hunt but wish they would have kept the basement and first key somewhat the same.

True she made the pick up on the wall to the airport. Still closer than the other three. I did like that they skipped the falling out portion and Aech got to rag on Wade more.

I both wanted the Tomb of Horrors and as a GM I'm glad they didn't use it.

Keeps it out the mainstream so I can still introduce players to a classic pain train without competting with a movie's visuals for headspace.

Just saw it and liked it. Also glad I didn’t read the book.

Was a little cheesy at times and went full nerd a lot but it was good

ETA: Would also be really cool if a version of the OASIS was real. Also, Gundam/MechaGodzilla/Iron Giant fight was awesome. Visual effects were top notch

I just got out of this movie, and it was ridiculous. It took 5 fricking years for someone to think “go in reverse”? Not only do I have a hard time believing no one would think of that in the first year, but really the literal first fricking race. A 5 year old me would have figured that shite out. It would be the second thing I did. I tried it with Mariokart for God’s sake.

The movie is dumb and far too reliant on nostalgia. The Shining scene was the only good moment of nostalgia. The others were cheap and soulless. I mean really, all these people live in Ohio?

This worst Spielberg film since Crystal Skull. Just shite, and I had no idea what was going on.

1.5 out of 4 stars

Probably my favorite movie since Django.

Ummm, what???? Your favorite movie since 2012? It’s shite, and yet you bring wonderful movies like Ex Machina into this? Please give me a reason why this is even equal to Blade Runner 2049, nevertheless superior to it.

It took 5 years for someone to figure out to go in reverse. Did everyone just become retarded in this timeline. Dumbest shite I’ve ever seen.

you seem triggered but for real I think your gonna have to let this one go OMLS too much nostalgia overpowers logic in this one. I agree if that many people were searching for these clues they would've figured the entire thing out in the first month.

I like you as a poster but here lately you seem to be at extreme polar opposites when you watch movies. You either think the movie you watch is Oscar worthy or just pure dog shite and wonder why anyone would like it. There’s no in between with you
