Re watching The Office

Always caught episodes at random times during random marathons a network was running but watching from season 1 forward. Great show as always, but definitely changes my opinions of characters.
Not a big fan of Jim anymore. Through the 1st two seasons, and he’s a little ‘too cool’ for his britches. He also seems a little creepy around Pam (lifting her up, weird stares during silence, the tea pot gift, etc) knowing all the whole she’s engaged and is being nice but really not reciprocating feelings at this point. If he were in my office, in a real setting, everyone would hate him.
That was prob my biggest change of heart. Michael Scott and Todd Packer are still my favs. Also forgot how many laughs I got from Ryan’s character.

I came away feeling this way after a re-watch as well.

Jim with Dwight is the GOAT.
Jim with Pam is just meh.

Have been through 4 full rewatches and I can never get enough Dwight.
Last few seasons needed a lot more Darrel

I'm watching for my 6th time from episode 1 to the end. I also watched a lot on commedy central when it's on.
Its crazy that still on the 6th run through I find new hilarious stuff each time. Love the show. I'm on season 7. I actually can't wait to finish and start my 7th rewatch.

I think it's a general consensus (from other threads too) that on re-watch, we all like Jim & Pam a lot less. And Nard Dog too is a giant dousche.
Most of the secondary characters are great, though, and they stand out more on rewatch when you don't give a shite about the main romantic stories.

I too liked Jim less on rewatches and appreciated Dwight more. I became a Jim/Karen fan rather than Jim/Pam.
As far as Jim’s hitting on Pam
“‘You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
-Wayne Gretzky’
-Michael Scott”

I just finished a re-watch and I came away loving Jim more than ever. Hating on Jim and Pam has evidently become en vogue. I don't get it.
One thing I did really appreciate from the re-watch was the times (especially in the later seasons) when Jim took it on the chin. He didn't always get away with it. I'm thinking of when Idris was the boss as well as when he and Dwight had the snowball war.
She kissed him on the lips in public during the 6th episode (and, if anything, HE was made very uncomfortable by this act). I think it was pretty obvious to each that there was lots of latent interest.

I was thinking about starting an Unpopular Opinion The Office thread...
But there are large stretches where I absolutely cannot stand Daryl. He's a complete a-hole.

Yep. I realized how great Kelly was after a re-watch. Probably became my favorite secondary character on the show.

careful, you might get labeled a racist (we weren't allowed to dislike the Idris Elba character in another thread because of skin color).

Nard Dog was awesome. Pussy-whipped "buy seven honeymoon packages and put down 10 wedding venue deposits" Andrew Bernard was an obnoxious weak douche.

Then you say Michael Scott and Todd Packer are your favorites. Everyone would despise them in real life.

I disliked the Jim and Pam situation in the last 2 seasons. Even in the last episode it just didn’t feel right to me.
After Pam becomes a salesmen she’s terrible.
Dwight is what kept the show going after Michael left. His character is incredible.

Yeah the whole point of Jim and Pam was they were the normal ones in an office of weird and offbeat characters.

I never really had any feelings for the Jim character in one direction or the other. He was simply the "straight man" and voice of reason to contrast the absurdity of Michael and Dwight. Jim's ENTIRE role in the show was to make Michael (and to a lesser extent) Dwight, funnier
I'll binge watch the Office. Step away for a while. Then come back. Every time I do I get a new appreciation for Steve Carrell. IMO, Michael Scott is probably the funniest individual sit com character since Archie Bunker, if not better.

Just when I thought the Nard Dog couldn't be more annoying. He goes on the sailing trip for 3 months, and comes back like nothing happened. They should have beat Andy with a hose out back.

Andy in “the return” is the best Andy. there’s no way they could have kept that up though.
