Re-watching the Office: Should I like Jim and Pam?
Because they both seem like tools at times.

They get much less likeable and Jim gets more punchable as time goes by.

This ^

I cheer to myself when Dwight hits Jim in the face with a snowball and makes him bleed.

No

They are the worst part of the show after season 4 and it is magnified if you watch it more than twice

Yes, they are worse than season 8 and season 9 Andy

I scratch all the character development in the last 2 seasons

They built up Andy for seasons to wreck it in like a minute

The Pam and Jim relationship goes from cute to disfunctional.

There are issue with keeping your main characters at a dead end job for a long time

I just can’t watch any rerun that has Andy in it.

I love The Office, but over time it definitely fell into the “the audience considers these characters to be their actual friends and really gives a shite about their pretend personal lives” trap, otherwise known as the Friends syndrome. I don’t care about Jim and Pam’s pretend marriage problems. I want to watch stupid people doing stupid things so I can laugh at them.

re: Re-watching the Office: Should I like Jim and Pam?
I’m in the middle of actually watching the whole thing through right now. I’ve watched 1-5, 9 bunch and seen most of 6-8 at spots.

I think that Jim and Pam are relatable most of the time for the first few seasons but they get to a point where they think they’re better than the rest of the office by 6 and become a bit more stuck up. Jim doing things like trying to give Pam the bonus at the cost of the rest of the Office shows some of the selfish nature we ignore the first few seasons because everyone else is so bizarre.

Only Angela had real character development (with Oscar along for the ride) towards the end.

they were the worst towards the end. and then the whole *thing* that happened towards the end to create drama was dumb.

Jim is the main reason I don't revere The Office like a lot of people. He's a douche canoe.

Real talk; Jims a loser and Pam is a cheating bitch. They also both hold each other back and it’s actually fairly depressing to watch play out

I lost a lot of respect for Jim when he let Dwight steal his biggest client. Pansy did nothing.

Pam's tolerability directly trends with her hotness
