I think Avatar is by the far worst....while also being by far the most rewatchable.

Dances with Wolves might be the technically superior movie (although Last Samurai is nothing to sniff at).

But Dances hasn't aged well. The movie is a phony.

Last Samurai is always a great re-watch.

A previous poster said it was Avatar...to each his own. I watched it once and never had a desire to watch it again.

Last Samurai has that Saturday afternoon TNT something where you stop most things and watch.

Samurai had an overly melodramatic ending.

Cruise and Watanabe lying shot on the field, crawl to each other, share words, embrace, Cruise helps him commit hari kari while they talk about it, watch cherry blossoms fall, Cruise takes sword to emperor, bows at feet holding up sword looking stoic, emperor suddenly finds strength to rise and speak, stand up to his ministers and declare the old ways are better.

Nah, too much over the top sappiness for me. Good movie, bad ending. Would have been much better for Cruise and Watanabe to both die on that field from being gunned down. Samurai era fades into history. Then maybe show some element that harbors back to the days of yore and the way of life.

Those are all the ones at least in those categories. I do think Mononoke is next level from all of them though.
