Ranking the top 5 Star Wars villains, films or otherwise

1. Grand Admiral Thrawn
The greatest military commander to ever live, Thrawn almost succeeded in doing what The Emperor and Vader could not: defeat the rebellion forever. Thrawn didn't need the dark side or superweapons, just superior tactics and strategy. Im the wake of the Empire's collapse, Thrawn took control of the imperial remnant and pushed the rebellion to the brink of destruction.
If it werent for his betrayal at the hands of his own bodyguard, its almost certain he would have defeated the jedi and the rebellion.
2. Darth Vader
Needs no explanation.
3. Darth Vitiate
Darth Vitiate is easily the most powerful sith of all time. Creator of the secret to undying life, Vitiate was an immortal who lived for tens of thousands of years and was the 1st true emperor. Vitiate could possess a persons body and influence you to agree with him across millions of light years of space.
Defeated both Revan and The Exile in combat and launched the most successful sith invasion of the galaxy in history. Vitiate was also never betrayed by the sith because they saw him as a living God.
4. Sheev Palpatine
Sidious was actually more powerful than he was depicted as in the movies. He was capable of creating massive force storms that could destroy entire planets and escaped death through his clones that he transferred his consciousness to. Sidious idolized Darth Vitiate and Plageious but lacked their power and could learn the secret to true immortality and thats the only reason hes ranked this low.
5. Abeloth
The only true God in the star wars universe, Abeloth is the oldest and most powerful being to ever live. Capable of creating dimensions of existence on the fly and creating matter from nothing, Abeloth was effectively unkillable and slaughtered both the Jedi and Sith with ease when she returned from her prison in The Maw (seen in Solo).
Abeloth doesnt want to destroy the world, rather obssessed with being reuninted with her ancient family whom she believes embodies the avatars of the light and dark side of the force.

If you dont think Thrawn is the best villian in Star Wars youre an idiot.
He makes Vader and Palp look like fools.

The biggest problem with the new films throwing out the EU is not getting a legitimate Thrawn.
I get that a lot of EU can be stale, old, and can get really hokey. But Thrawn is a magnificent villain and is worthy of getting a screen adaptation.

Thrawn will be on the big screen soon. They went out of their way to keep him alive in Rebels for a reason.

So he "almost" succeeded where Emperor/Vader failed. In other words, he failed as well.
I don't know jack shite about any of this extended universe/animated tv show stuff, but this statement was particularly dumb.

slight Bane rip off but I always liked Darth Malgus

The difference is that he technically didnt lose. If he had been replaced by a commander as competent as him the empire still would have won.
He died undefeated on the battlefield.
Then again you arent a Star Wars fan so what do you know.

Darth Malgus
Malgus was cool but he never really understood what Vitiate was up to. He thought Vitiate had gone mad and simply abandoned the Sith.
Boy was he wrong.

I wouldn't bet on it, not with this creative team.
