Rain Man Still Holds Up

I catch it every couple of years and it simply never gets old. The acting, directing, and writing are all top notch, not to mention one of the best, most underrated and unique music scores ever.
I also think the story is far more about Cruise's Charlie Babbitt than the Rain Man. Cruise is the only character that really changes during the movie and he is most affected by the introduction of Ray. His performance was also just as deserving as Hoffman's for an Oscar.
There's something about the whole vibe the movie that is perfect. It's emotional, funny, and dramatic. It's simply one of the best film ever made.

Yes, Cruise deserved at least a nomination for that role.

Tom finally got to work with another actor he didn't have to wear lifts to stand by.

Whenever I think of Rain Man, I think of that hot chick from Hot Shots...
And I think this was patient zero of the trend that if you played a retard you won Best Actor.

The film is entirely about Charlie Babbitt.
