The suit didn't actually come to being until he is almost killed by Morlun (sp?) - then you could get into new abilities AFTER that encounter, but I digress...

I get being ignorant. A lot of people are ignorant that don't read, or understand something that's easy to research.

Besides Superhuman strength (lift 10tons, super-human speed, durability, and agility, there are a myriad of super-human abilities he has attributed to him in cannon.

Greatest MCU character EVER.

EEE-EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE---VER

What makes Black Widow (I think that is Scarlett Johanssen's character) a superhero? Does she have any superpowers, or is she just a normal human assassin?

A hero kills people, people that wish him harm. A hero is part human and part supernatural. A hero is born out of a childhood trauma, or out of a disaster, and must be avenged.

I think I was one of the few that liked The Other. I still need to read the Spiderverse since it seems like a continuation of all that was dropped there.

But I'm still pissed about OMD and OMIT and Renew Your Vows was at least a nice balm.

Maybe so, but it didn't answer anything from my perspective.

Tony's suit does all that and more, and he has no powers other than sarcasm

Steve Rogers: Big man in a suit of armour. Take that off, what are you?

Tony Stark: Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist.

Spider-Man: I can bench press a truck, sense danger before it occurs, dodge bullets.

Steve & Tony: Well, shite.

For me his best was late 80's early 90's.

Adult pre-married Peter was the best. Gang War: Kingpin, the Rose, Hammerhead, Silvermane, etc. Juggling Black Cat as a gf but with MJ around all the time. Flash Thompson framed as Hobgoblin and on the lam. Ned Leeds as Hobgoblin without all the whacky Hobgoblin identity retcons that came later.

He was really more in the world of Daredevil, Punisher, and other street heroes in those days.

I can support what the MCU is doing with Spiderman. I think it works for the MCU, but from a comic book standpoint, the 80s were the best for the character. Even when dealing with the symbiote costume, he managed to keep things more down to earth.

Leaving the Baxter Building (might have been Four Freedoms Plaza by that point) with an old FF uniform and a bag over his head with a "Kick Me" sign placed on the back by Johnny Storm was one of the classic moments in Spidey history.

Those were great storylines.

I would've been totally ok with Peter and MJ ending. But do it right. No plane explosion, no deal with the devil. Divorce, then give him a few rebounds and then Felicia permanently.

Agreed. Do it without magic or massive retconning.
I don't even mind that he got married. Let the character evolve.
Those were just well done stories.

What is the point of his having superpowers?

Tony's suit does everything for him. I mean his tech can stick to walls. have super strength, speed, and agility.

It always bugged me that, by making his suit an iron suit, you basically neutralize what makes him Spider Man

"If you're nothing without this suit, then you shouldn't have it."

Kind of the point of Homecoming, yeah?

MCU Clint isn't Tony's biggest fan.

but who knows what tech Ronin has in A4?
