I understand if it's a 15 or 16 year old. But when I went and watched Halloween the other night there were maybe a half dozen or more kids no older than 10 years old there with their parents.

So fricking stupid and trashy

I suppose this is the new thing to do for today's parents. I went to a screening of Halloween on Friday night and saw kids that looked younger than 10 at the theater with their parents. I was kinda surprised. I would never let my children go see an R-rated movie at that particular age. Perhaps I'm in the minority and old fashioned now.

Did y'all not see horror movies before 10? I knew who Michael, Jason, Chucky and Freddy were all before 10.

I'm pretty much the same way. It depends on what makes the movie R. I use discretion.

I have seen it, in really bad (horror) movies.

Sometimes it looks like the Nanny.

I walked into The Devil Inside after my movie on a day off a few years ago and some woman walked into the theater with 3 under 5 years-old kids and sat down and started munching popcorn while the kids ran around the aisles.

Probably didn't tell the parents that was their outing for the day.

No shite. I’m an 80s kid with HBO so I saw it all by 1990

Half my childhood was watching USA up all night and HBO till 2/3am.

I watched my first R rated movie when I was 7.

Maybe kids don't need to be protected from entertainment.

I’m a generic white 38 year old suburban dad that’s never been arrested or had any major issues

I knew every word to Dr Dre’s the Chronic and Snoops Doggystyle at 11 and had a bootleg VHS of Revenge of the Nerds when I was 8.

I was born in 86 so growing up those horror icons were just a part of the culture. Even without seeing the movies you knew who they were.

I had a friend in 7th grade who was Belgian and his parents had immigrated. His Dad had a massive Penthouse collection that we liberally perused...actually the kid brought them to school and sold them. Very popular kid.

One day we rented Fast Times with a few other friends (you could rent R-rated movies at any Mom and Pop back in the 80's) and the Mom walked in and saw the scene where Jennifer Jason Leigh shows breast and flipped out and turned the movie off.

Sadly...I was to learn later, the best part of the movie was coming up and didn't see it until a year later. I think it was a good thing, if she had turned it off during Phoebe I would have been tormented. Jason Leigh...meh.

Good lawd man! The naked human body, procreation and groups of letters formed together to make words are taught to be wrong or right as a societal construct. Teach your children the difference between fantasy and reality, fact and fiction, critical thinking and the more important things in life like kindness to others instead of worrying about these nonsensical puritan or religious ideas of morality. Just because it is what you were taught and most people believe does not mean it is what is right or best...break out of the sheep mold.

Depends on what horror movies you are talking about. I saw the first two Poltergeists and Jaws when I was little.

I did too. Though it wasn't until I was in high school that I actually watched any of the movies they appeared in.

Halloween is kind of harmless. Yeah I could scare a kid for a few days but movies with graphic violence or sex and language are far more troubling

My dad took me to see terminator 2 when I was 5. One of my favorite movies ever.
