Complaints about the movie are that everything looks too sleek, the characters are despicable, and Michael Bay made it.

The shooting style is perfect for the era it's set in- it's a reflection of commercials and general mainstream film styl of the era.

The characters are based on real people and are supposed to be received as despicable and dead inside- Markie Mark, The Rock, and Anthony Mackie did stellar jobs playing total scumbags and Monk and Ed Harris are good in it as well.

Stylistically speaking, Michael Bay was the perfet guy to make this movie and I think he nailed it, I was really impressed by the restraint he showed in this one. It's my favorite movie of his.

It's a really good looking movie that tells a compelling (albeit not entirely faithful to the Miami Herald article version of the real-life events) story. Just curious why it gets so much hate.

There's only one explosion and it's way late in the movie.

So subpar for Bay.

Very underrated film. Ed Harris is great as usual and everyone else was perfectly cast.

The real life guy Monk played was pissed when he saw it. Pretty sure he said something along the lines of “they tried to kill me and this movie made it a comedy.”

I'm a big fan of this movie. I think it's hilarious.

Although admittedly it is based on a dark true story. Mackie, Wahlberg, and the Rock were all hilarious imo.
