Sounds like you are the one with issues.

They are following the books. Aunt Jocasta owned slaves and Claire and Jaime are not pleased with this. She is a frickING FICTIONAL character in a FICTIONAL show and not part of your Scottish heritage you keep insisting on reminding us in almost every post (newslash...no one cares that you are Scottish).

Lsunurse, sometimes ppl take themselves to seriously. If it pisses him off just don't watch the show, it's simple.

Well hopefully he will stop watching and stay out of this thread

Him and his miserable wife can go watch Dancing with the Stars instead or 60 minutes or whatever old people watch and be nostalgic about their younger days when they were allowed to be more racist without people getting upset.

ETA: Most people that get that upset over such issues....are usually racist deep down. Like in their home racist, not openly racist to those around them.

Wow! Can we get back to talking about the show.

I was done talking about it .... posted my piece, my opinion, and was cool with the opposite opinions.

She made it personal so it is what it is. She'd better leave my precious sweet wife out of her bitchy little skank comments though.

I had a run in with nurse way back under my old username and she gets away with a lot when she starts in on people ... whereas idgaf when nurse turns a disagreement personal - frick her.

But yeah, please do. I hope I actually read something in this thread as the season moves along that makes me change my mind.

I have not ... but my wife has, so has my very elderly mom years ago. I sorta acquiesced to the wife to ever start watching the TV series and she talked me into it because of the Scottish aspects of the show and we had already traveled and done a bunch of sight seeing along the Jacobite Trail in Scotland and Northern England ... plus we did the distillery tour and the whole Hadrian's Wall trip on horseback some years ago when my girls were in college. They're in their 30s now. We felt it was important for them to understand their heritage and I read a lot of history books.

I loved season one. Wasn't crazy about season two in France but it was okay and it did have some truth to it.

Season three was damn interesting to me for a lot of reasons. Have really been looking forward to season four.

My wife is quite a bit younger than me, she's my second and last ... not watching this season hasn't seemed to be a big deal to her though. When she asks me to sit down and watch it with her I will because, to me, there is nothing better than Scottish history in my beloved South Carolina. My bookshelves have volumes about history in this state. I way overpaid for a first edition series, the definitive volumes, of the History of SC .... First Edition complete set of 10 volumes published in 1919.

There is so much Scottish history in this state, more than any other with the possible exception of Western NC in the mountains and some in the same mountains in Eastern TN.

But Dark Corners in SC is where it all begin as they moved in frim the coast and into the foothills and mountains after most landed in Charleston, Beaufort and Wilmington.

We may still watch though. I just have to get my mind right about what my wife tells me it's apparently going to be about.

I feel ya. I have some Scottish heritage and I love the history of the show. I know it's not 100% accurate, but that's ok with me. I like the play that Claire knows what is gonna happen and the modernization of traveling etc.

That's an incredibly good looking woman playing her part ... and my wife is in love with Jaime.

The Time Travel aspects of it are so well done.

Now, that guy who played Clair's husband and the evil British officer that raped Jaime at the end of S1 ... he'll forever be despised by my wife after that scene even though she knew what was coming before I did. When she even sees that actor on other shows (we did the other day but I cannot remember the show) ... she is disgusted.

What a dichotomy between the British officer and Clair's husband who I was very sympathetic to honestly.

Sort of the same thing for the witch. (I don't wanna spoil it for anyone.)

Anyways, that's one thing about this series ... the protagonists and antagonists are not always clear cut.

I imagine curiosity will eventually set-in soon and we'll end up watching it.

I'm really looking forward to the new season of The Last Kingdom though ... so that may satiate my historical show cravings for a little while.

I'm gonna bow out of this thread ... didn't mean to cause so much disruption for the civil posters.

It’s not nice to personally attack a poster.

I felt very attacked by your post. Especially as a female.

It's pretty offensive to me for somebody to have an issue with slavery. They are ruining the show. My wife and all her coworkers think there should still be slavery and this show is putting out the wrong message for kids today.

For the life of me I can't tell if this is legit or a troll job.

The show should be equally appealing to men and women. You have the love story for the women, and then you have the rough and tumble history of the Scots. All the stuff leading up to the battle of Culloden was a real spark for me to delve into the history of that time further.

It's always gotta be about race huh?

lulz

It can never be about historical accuracy or the fact that less than 2% of Carolinians were slave owners at the time.

Nah, definitely don't tell that side of the story.

The wife read all the books. I was hooked on the show she baited me into for the first three seasons ... even logged it into my TV time app. We were looking forward to its return

The story off the Scots that immigrated here is much more interesting than the one they are now telling.

They're no longer telling a story ... now they're messaging and doing what every other show eventually does. They're stirring up the shite for the kiddies and the SJW gals.

It's not offensive. It's just more of the same old everyday bullshite that's been going on every since the sixties.

Lord help is if we can ever accurately portray a certain period in time without all the holier than thou self righteous bullshite. Lord help us if we all just admit shite happened a long time ago and move on to something more constructive for our country. Lord help us if we one day quit ripping open old wounds just to watch them fester.

Same old same old bullshite non stop 24/7/365 for decades now.

That's what Hollywood is all about these days. Bad white men ... don't forget. You must be reminded constantly ... white man bad, all others good.

lulz

Just go away you chickenshit crybaby snowflake skyscreamer bitch.

Dude has serious anger issues for sure. Just because I said he was old, miserable, and possibly slightly racist he flipped the frick out on some old man crazy rant. Doesn’t take much to set him off.
