Its been quite a while since season 3. Here's a NYT article if you need a refresher course... LINK

Over/Under on the number of sex scenes between Claire and Jamie, i'll set it at 5. I say over.

I think season 3 was better than season 2. I wasnt crazy about the all sophisticated French business man Jamie and rape Black Jack 20 later in season 3, pop in a little grey hair for Claire and you're back to the feel of season 1.

I'll update the title as we go along. I dont think there will be enough action to start a new thread every week.

Yeah it was well over a year since the last season. I didnt start watching until a few months ago though

This is one of the shows I feel like if it was on HBO, it would be hugely popular.

You have to remember the very core of the book series is the love story between Jaime and Claire. So it will always be a prominent feature of the tv series.

I’m pumped but I’ve read reviews where this season is like season 1 with the sex scenes

I much prefer the battles and history part of it but whatever.

Looks good

It's the most exquisitely shot television show, period. The cinematography is just stunning.

Yea this is my next read. I just found this series a few months ago so Im just a Hodor right now.

It's just the only show I've ever seen that has a decent amount of sex scenes and it only be the same people every time.

I always pictured Stephen Bonnet with darker hair for some reason. If he looks familiar...he was in Downton Abbey as well.

My family has a pretty big ancestry from Scotland and left for America after culloden(uncle even plays the bagpipes for a lot of weddings, funerals, inaugurations, etc in MS ) and I found myself drawn into checking this show out. From what I hear Ronald Moore kind of had the show be more guy friendly compared to books so I enjoy the history and the sci-fi element of it all. It was a good shift after Black Sails ended. Definitely agree the cinematography is great.

Can anyone give or point me to a quick synopsis of this show?

I've seen it mentioned and I've heard of the books, but I was always under the impression that it was more geared towards women. Not that I'm opposed to love stories or anything but that's the impressions I got from the little I've seen/heard.

The book series was written years ago and yes...the series is geared towards women. It's an historical fiction meets romance meets sci fi book. The books are awesome though nonetheless, whether you are male or female.

Claire is from the late 1940s. She is in Scotland...touches ancient stones...gets thrown back to late 1740s Scotland. She tries to return to her present (and her husband). She meets Jaime...falls in love with him and a bunch of other stuff happens. Basically she knows a lot of details about Culloden from her history loving husband and tries to use it to change the past.

Tonight’s was good

I like this show but don’t love it. Black Sails was the best Starz show

I know it’s a love story but the sex scenes feel forced sometimes. Literally every episode it’s action and then some cheesy lines and a sex scene between the same two people for 3 seasons. We get it. Y’all REALLY like each other

There were some bad green screen CGI scenes tonight. You could tell the superimposed the mountains and lots of footage

I’m torn.

It’s been damn decent but trailers seem to indicate the show is going full blown race baiting SJW this season ... in a very political way.

I’m old family Carolina Scot and Ulster Irish dating back to the early 18th Century through Charleston. Dark Corners in SC is still almost all Scottish. (Where they’re supposedly headed based upon the trailers.)

If they try to convey the storyline they appear to be following based upon trailers ... they’ll be waaaaaay off the path of historical accuracy.

The wife and I did not watch tonight. Waiting to read and hear some reviews on the boards and in her office.

We watched TWD and The Deuce tonight instead and will probably watch Ray Donovan tomorrow.

We may give up on Outlander ... would be a shame if they went off the rails.

The Carolinas are Scot country.

Oh for fricks sake it is a show. A fictional show. Get over yourself.

They have been very good about following the book series. I read all the books and don’t remember it being super political at all. And....these books were written like 20 years ago.

I mean Claire left the 1960s to find Jaime again....during the time of the 60s civil rights movement. Her best friend in the 1960s was a black doctor. So wouldn’t it make sense she would be appalled to see slavery with her own eyes? Wouldn’t any person from modern day be appalled?

I’ll spoil it for you just a little....Claire never accepts how Aunt Jocasta has made her fortune using slaves. They still will accept her help though. And Claire isn’t trying to go all “SJW” in the 1760s. She is more concerned about them forging their own lives and settling on their own land and aligning themselves on the right side of history before the American Revolution begins.

ETA: She learned from Culloden that you can’t channge major events in the past. Remember...no matter how hard they tried...it still happened. All she can do is use her knowledge of what will happen in history to keep her and her family safe.
