Onward on Disney+
Just watched. Not my favorite Pixar movie but definitely worth a watch. Fun and heart warming. My wife cried.

Whole family enjoyed it tonight. Half of us cried - Pixar must be losing it’s touch.

Really enjoyed it. Had read a lot of people didn’t care for it but I thought it was really good

No sure why a lot didn’t care for it. Thought it was pretty darn good and liked the swerve with Ian at the end.

A lot of miserable people just love to hate things. Like I said, it’s not Toy Story but it was a fun movie and it managed to make my wife cry and held my 2.5 year old’s attention the whole time. That’s a success in my house.

Was there a Pixar short before the movie?

The ending nailed me bc I lost my dad in 2006 when I was 21.

Watched it and I could never get into it, it just never really caught my attention and some of the characters I thought were annoying, like the cop step dad.

re: Onward on Disney+
We enjoyed it and we’ve skipped the last few cartoons from Pixar. For the most part my boys are over the cartoon phase but they like Chris Pratt and Tom Holland.

I have a 13 and 10 year old so a lot of it hit home. Wasn’t expecting that twist at all. I’m obviously still alive but there’s a lot of things that the older has been a big part of shaping for the younger.

I am honestly surprised they went that route. 90% of disney is focusing on “princesses” viewing their relationship with somebody as opposed to boys. Not knocking it at all, just surprised.

re: Onward on Disney+
It wasn't really a swerve from Pixar. Having an older brother 7 years older and losing my dad at 21 really hit home for me. They pulled the feels out of my soul at the end. My brother was a huge influence on my younger years and shaped a lot of my tastes.

That said, Pixar does a lot of this. The princess thing is mostly Disney. Pixar has had the different type stories exploring other things like Up, Inside Out, Incredibles, Toy Story, Wall-E, CoCo etc.

Pixar > Disney.

I enjoyed it. The ending got me pretty good.

My 7 year old daughter thought it was very meh and loudly proclaimed that Frozen II was far superior.

I guess its a movie more suited for young boys.

I loved it.

Only criticism was that, as much as I like Chris Pratt, Jack Black should have played Barley.

Very fun. Formulaic at this point in the Pixar canon--if it comes out in 2000 instead of 2020 it's probably hailed as a masterwork. As it is, it'll just be remembered as a very good Pixar film.

Still, Pixar always manages to throw at least one shot (if not several) into each film that just cuts right through the heart. The nearly silent climax achieved that, leaving my wife and I weepy-eyed. Beautiful scene.

Great movie, whole family liked it.

Jack Black would’ve killed as the older brother but Pratt did great too

re: Onward on Disney+
Pixar was just too good with all their early movies
It’s been hard to top the classics
Even the sequels are tough to keep going
Onward was ok
Kind of had a similar feel to inside out

I never really cared for toy story 4
