I don't know if I missed it or what, but what happened to the group of people that tried to escape? Did they just get in a wreck or did Negan have some sort of trap or something set up to go off if they did try to escape?

Maybe the show made it clear but I was a little confused about that.

What is this?? I mean we are 3 episodes into the season. Plus the fact that nobody really know much about him and everybody is scared of him to me makes him even scarier.

Every time JDM is on screen it's tense as frick. I'm not sure what USA Today is even talking about.

Where are all the other dudes that were at the Glenn death scene?
Do they all live at the sanctuary?

Or do they live in other bases like the satellite base Rick and company slaughtered?
If so, I wonder how many separate bases full of saviors exist outsode of the sanctuary.

Simon didn't seem to be there this week, or the guys shown trading with the kingdom.

how does someone come in and steal peoples' wives only to have them bend a fricking knee and take whatever he dishes out and not do anything about it? Seems like someone would've staged a coup by now. I know I damn sure would in that situation.
All you'd have to do is kill Negan and that place would fall apart. There would be too many people competing to take his place.

For the rest of you, you can't have everything you want in one episode. If that's the way you feel, just record all of the episodes and watch them when the season's over.

So, how fricking stupid is Daryl? Just play along, get in good with them, then rebel from the inside. Dwight was hunted down and is now a top lieutenant. You see that. The opportunity is obvious. This tough guy routine is not going to get you anywhere.

Norman Reedus explained it by saying that Daryl sees "playing along" as a betrayal to Glenn. Reedus said that Daryl is determined to stand for his convictions, like Glenn did, for as long as he can. And if that means he has to suffer in the meantime, so be it.

as far as I can tell I think they were trying to show that a car went off the overpass and broke the barrier then a bunch of walkers down thru the hole. Thus the walker falling on Dwight

I'm afraid Dwight is so desperate to brake Daryl he's going to use Daryl's reasoning against him. Daryl mentioned he understood why Dwight did what he did because he was saving someone, and now a lightbulb will go off inside Dwight's head eventually, he'll either use someone from Rick's group or he'll notice Daryl cares for his ex with. Dwight will use his ex or someone from Rick's group to break Daryl.

Daryl messed up by saying what he did and it may cost someone a scare or their life...

EDIT: Thinking about that some more. If it's Dwight's ex-wife, Negan will be the one who notices Daryl weakness towards Sherry, and he'll threaten to bash her head in unless Daryl breaks. I can hear Negan now..."It's time for a new wife anyways, so you'll be doing me a favor Daryl"

What is "working for points"? Negan mentioned

I think it's the same thing as when Beth was in the hospital. The leader of that (the female cop) mentioned "paying back what you owe". I think Negan has a similar system where those who prove themselves earn points to rank higher and stay in his good graces.

the assumption i make is that the majority of the "saviors" are tasked with producing goods and services for the group (either taking them or finding them) in exchange for points that can be used for privileges

the flip side of that is they probably dont have to completely surrender themselves to negan like dwight has done. in other words they have some "freedoms" although their lives are much more difficult. i assume we will see some additional illustration of this upcoming. what we did see though makes it clear that gordon worked for points, and prior to escaping so did dwight and his wife/her sister

I personally would love to watch a spinoff series following Negan's rise to power. It might have a very Breaking Bad vibe. He starts off with good intentions but soon lets the power go to his head. If he came from humble beginnings that would be even better. We could follow it a long way. I'm sure he's crossed paths with many other groups himself. I'm intrigued by his power over everyone else. Amazing how subjugated the people are to him.

the opposite seems more likely...that dwight could be attempting to gain daryl's trust

Anybody else disappointed in the Negan character? The actor is good, and he looks pretty cool but Negan's dialogue is soooooo bad.

Please tell me Negan will gain more depth as a character, and be given better lines to say.

What you see is what you get. He's a bipolar evil guy. But yes he'll get more in depth later on.

I got the opposite vibe. At one point, Negan mentioned working for points as the second option. He said you'll wish you were dead doing that. I think the working for points are the people that owe Negan a debt. So, they have to do menial tasks to get back to even. That is why that one guy was trying to leave. He was better off dying than remaining there.

Dwight, on the other hand, has a bit more freedom to roam around. He can go after escapees without people thinking he will leave as well. He has paid his debt by having his face burned and giving up his wife. So, now, he is "even", but he still works to keep his spot in the crew.

Also, back to Dwight shooting the guy running away. I thought that was a great reveal at the end. We think Dwight is compassionate and could possibly turn soon since we think he shot the guy in the head. The end reveals he just shot him in the back and left him to the worst possible punishment: being a walker. So, as of now, Dwight is still very much "named Negan".
