I guess we just have to "tune in next week..." to find out what happens next. Hooked.

1. Manpower- Do you remember when we first met Negan. There were over 100 guys in the woods. Plus when Michonne kidnapped that women, she said there is more of them than we thought. Does Rick have 100 fighters yet? Maybe with the dumpster people, but can they fight? They don't have that many guns, so are they any good with them.

By the looks of the last few episodes I'd venture to say Rick actually might have more people. I think the number as far as people isnt the issue

Alexandria- 20+ ish?
Hilltop- 30 ish
Kingdom- appears to be around at least 30-40
Trash people- Looking at a still shot overview, they have at least 30 maybe more
Lesbos group- This last epsiode made it seem as if they have a ton. Maybe 30-40 women/girls old enough to fight

2. Firepower-

This is the major problem for Rick even with the lesbos guns

I think he'll die. There's no other reason to suddenly bring him back. He's a character the audience doesn't care much about.

My guess is he'll die next week and we'll get some cliffhanger death to wait for next year.

They do cliffhangers every year. I don't know why so many of you are surprised about this. It's not the only show on TV. You can wait. If one of you gets cancer, we'll lobby the studio to let you watch next season early.

The same way the Saviors cornered Rick and crew off at every pass, is the way Rick should divide and conquer the Saviors.

You don't bum rush with everything you have. You systematically pick them off.

I don't know shite other than what I watch. I'm in the group of frick this season. It's been very lame.

Exactly. I would envision a little of Negans own tactics.

Huge tree across road just around a curve. Use dynamite to blow either bridge behind them or another tree to block retreat.

Prior to attack build some "pill boxes" to provide Ricks people protection from the ambush. Even better would be the dynamite in a culvert under the road or inside a car that Negans truck will pass. An IED would mess up his world.

I think this was about the best episode since the season premier. Still not what it used to be though. I can't lie, I do enjoy Negan's time on screen.

They'll be as incompetent or invincible as the writers need them to be to get through this ridiculous storyline.

Kirkman has said explicitly in interviews that there are no cliffhangers this season. It is going to wrap up cleanly and satisfyingly.

Aaron's boyfriend has suddenly reappeared. That means he's either about to die or will play a pivotal role in an upcoming storyline. His scenes are unnecessary and easily forgettable, but he originally was very apprehensive about fighting Negan. He made a comment to Aaron in this episode about now understanding the need to fight. He hasn't changed his opinion. He fears Alexandria will be completely destroyed and Aaron will be killed if they fight Negan.

This was my thought watching the episode as well. All of a sudden they start giving Aaron's boyfriend some lines of dialogue, that can't be good for one or both of them.

I don't mind cliffhangers. I just need SOMETHING to happen before the hang. There has to be some sort of payoff to make the time put into watching this season worth it. At least that is my opinion for how to make good television.

As far as the little birdie talk, Negan has to have spies watching the compound. Even if from outside the walls. He would know that Rick has been gone days at a time. Now they are all walking around with rifles and handguns. That would have to get his attention.

If true, wouldn't Negan have just paid a visit, killed a few Alexandrians and put an end to it?

Because Rick's group killed an entire Savior Outpost.

4. Strategy- When Negan tricked Rick into coming to him in the woods, that was brilliant. It shows that they can plan, plot and predict their enemies moves and reactions. Negan would have already planned the assault and back-ups, in case things changed on the fly. We have never seen these other groups come up with anything close to that well thought out.
quote:

Maybe the attack on the radio station, but that group was totally caught off guard (didn't know Rick's group existed).
In fairness, the attack in the woods, at that point Rick didn't know that group existed either, right?

When he took out the outpost, he thought he took out all of the Saviors, so he had no clue if i recall.

quote:

5. Motivation- Revenge is a powerful motivator, but this kind of goes both ways. Rick's group lost a few people, but like Eugene said, they killed around 30 of the Saviors, maybe more. Both groups will be desperate to win. But the Saviors fear Negan more than the other groups admire Rick. I would think Negan will inspire his side more.

The fear style of leadership will only get you so far. The first sight of adversity, things can go downhill real quick for that type of leader.

Yea, i have no battle leading experience lol..but...

Negan's guys always travel in groups.
I
t seems like once ready, once a group goes to, say, Alexandria, bum rush that group. When they don't return on time, another group gets sent out, have a plan to overtake that group. And maybe at that point, the numbers are well in your favor for the big battle at the main outpost for the Saviors.

Just spitballing ideas.

The Saviors are a much larger group. Plus Negan never planned on killing all of them. He captured the main group that was on a mission to transport Maggie

Not saying you're wrong here, but it seems like the actual fighters, we see the same 3 or so groups over and over.

Seems like maybe the outpost has a lot of folks, but they're not all fighters. The ones not on the points system are basically like slaves, and probably can't be counted on for much in a war, I'd imagine.
