Why would Mathews kill Harry?

I mean Matthews is definitely suspicious but I dk about that.

What if there is another serial killer on the force?

you'd think dexter would have crossed paths with him/her at some point

Idk but in season 2 when dexter found out from Matthews that Harry committed suicide and Dexter always thought it was bc Harry saw what dexter had become I just didn't buy it since Harry groomed him to be that way in the first place as a way to channel his "Dark Passenger". And it'd be a good twist since we have the unreliable narrator in Dexter; since Dexter's projection of Harry is based upon his memories of Harry which happened to be shaped in part by how Dexter remembers him and what others have told dexter about him.

And with the new British psych lady having a connection with Matthews and Harry it'd be a great way to lead into the discovery of Harry's true fate (maybe Harry was onto whatever Matthews was doing at the time, but couldn't bring dexter into it until Harry had proof to fit the code yet?). I'm just spitballing here though.

And I always thought Matthews was a crook from the get go. And it'd be a nice way to bring the series to a close with Dexter coming to realize Harry did accept him for who he was and what he became and it would reinforce Dexter paternal relationship with Harrison whether Harrison has a dark passenger or not.

Eta: It'd also reunify Dexter and Debs relationship after the fallout of season 7.

If British lady knows how fricked up Dex is then so does Matthews. And not only does he know then he has been watching Dex's back all the way back to Doakes. If I remember right it was Matthews that handed over the blood slides found in Doakes' car to Dex for analysis. Matthews had to know it was a frame job knowing Dex was fricked up and Doakes was all over him.

I'm not disputing Matthews knows or not, just a theory that he is the reason for Harry's death somehow. Besides it'd be kinda pointless for Harry to commit suicide when he helped shaped dexter to be the man he is.

It's not a bad theory. Seems like all those corrupt guys frick someone over to move up. Except Batista...and Deb. But very early on it seemed like Deb would have done any and everything to move up to lieutenant

I hope you're right, but how do we know it wasn't a dream or something?

It would make sense for her to come back but that shot in the preview looked and sounded like a dream sequence.

Anyone hear Michael C Hall make reference that the whole series might be Dexter being dead the whole time and the series was a remembrance of his life? If this were to turn out to be true, would that actually upset anyone?

Personally, I wouldn't give a shite if it were a look back at his life because that is what most shows are.

That doesn't make sense to me. That would just mean that at the end of the show we find out that he died along the way.

I hope that's not the case.

As far as Hannah McKay. She will be back in person. Absolutely has too. That's one thing I don't like in Dexter is dream sequences. In season 3 where he punches out the glass in his lab and screams "Miguel!!!!!" was brilliant...until it was dexter day dreaming! Sometimes dream sequences do drastic things that IRL would have cinsequences and high stakes but since they're revealed to be a dream it's a cheap shot at the audiences expectations.

My theory:

Matthews and Harry bring in the British chick years ago to evaluate Dexter as a small boy. She knows from the get go Dexter is doomed. That's when they try and make a wrong right by creating the perfect killing machine to clean the streets of all the killers that fall through the cracks. Harry's job was to adopt Dexter as he had no children at the time and he felt guilty over Dexter's mother's death. From there, he was to instill "Harry's Code" once Dexter's psychopathic tendencies began to clearly show.

When Dexter finally kills someone, Harry has second thoughts and confronts Matthews. Matthews kills Harry because Harry can kill his quickly moving career and she leaves to go back to England.

And Matthews has been "protecting" Dexter ever since...
