Obi-Wan Kenobi (Disney+) - Episode 4 Discussion Thread

Well if episode 3 didn’t get you pumped for the rest of the season, then I don’t know what will.
Darth Vader just absolutely kicking arse, and Obi-Wan scared out of his mind. Now that Obi-Wan is hurt, there has to be some bacta tank scenes and flashbacks.
3 episodes left, let’s get it rolling.

Reva was much better in episode 3. I’m expecting 4 and 5 to be more tame but I could be wrong

I couldn’t make it through one episode of this cringe fest

I'd say the show is at a crossroads... first 2 episodes gave us "run, Leia, run!" and 3rd Sista, both of which were pretty cringeworthy.
Ep 3 gave us Vader, which alone made it worth watching; and I think people are overlooking Indira Varma as the woman running the Jedi underground railroad. You don't hire her for a throwaway role, so I think she plays a big part from here on out (and yeah, I know that also may incite some fans here ).
Next couple of episodes will go a long way towards shaping Star Wars and it's reception. The Mandalorian saved it, and that character rescued Book of Boba Fett when it was otherwise floundering.

Imagine if there is a scene where the Emperor is overseeing the beheading of Jar Jar.
Id forgive everything

On this episode: Vader gets foiled by water.

quote:I laughed, but it's not as far-fetched as it would seem. Kinda surprised we saw the trooper get sliced in half by the fence. Disney seems to be able to slip things in, they know the ratings boundary quite well. Hand chopped off, Vader snapping a kid's neck, etc.

Heck, I just checked and Guardians of the Galaxy was a Disney production, they already owned MCU when it was made. I bring that up, because Ronin got a little down and dirty on the Xandarian. Didn't actually show him smashing that dude's skull like a grape, but we got him laid out, Ronin swinging the hammer, and blood running in the stone floor.
If Jar Jar's blood isn't red, I think he's fair game.

I have to put in my birth year to watch content, so I mean..why not.
I dont see him living through the Emperor's rise if there was no use for him.

was that not jar-jar saying "We-sa free" at the end of episode 6 in the new new new release?

quote:Oh, I agree personally. But we're talking Disney and a Disney+ series here; they spent the first couple of years staying PG-13. They own a ton of Fox content that would make their library super-impressive, but farm it to Hulu instead (for now, I hear that may change). Imagine getting the Alien and Predator franchises under the same streaming service as Star Wars, Avatar and the MCU, they've practically cornered the SF market.

I think it was discussed before, the inclusion of the Netflix MCU characters is the precursor of Disney dropping the just-for-kids act. They're currently fighting with one hand behind their back, that won't last forever.

quote:Gungans have a lifespan of about 65 galactic standard years. Jar Jar was born in 52 BBY (Before Battle of Yavin), which makes him 20 years old at the time of “Episode I.”

I am not sure if it maths up though

I realize I'm going out on a limb with a sex analogy in a star wars thread but here goes nothing.
Yall ever been in a situation where you are going in and out of a relationship with a person but you are still having sex with them? You don't even like the person but there is just a lot of history there. Eventually you are just hate-fricking each other.
That's how I feel about this show. And I might get a good buzz, stay up, and hate frick this bitch at 2:00 am.

What’s the point of another discussion thread?
Everyone will just fill it with the same “Disney sucks” “show is garbage” rants

People have a lifespan of about 70 years... doesn't stop some people from living well past 100.

No way he makes it to 100 in the height of the empire

quote:I'm curious about where they go with Varma's character. Like I said, she's kind of a recognizable actress for an extra, and that's already not an extra with her rescuing Kenobi. I thought she would be too old to be a romantic interest, but I looked them both up, and he's 2 yrs older than her.

Will they hook up? Seems like a reasonable storyline; he's basically a self-exiled priest of a fallen order, a monk whose faith has been shaken. She's opposed to the Empire and has been helping Jedi, so you could say she'd be a fan of what he was.
I can see him bottoming out, her pulling him out of it, probably sacrificing herself in the process. He comes out of the series with a renewed sense of purpose.
It's not necessarily the way I would take Star Wars, but worse things have happened to this universe.
