I thought Yoda told Obi Anakin’s Sith name before the duel? It’s been a while.

They watched the security footage after the Temple attacks where Palpatine calls him Lord Vader

That was significantly disappointing. Even more now that I read in this thread there’s only 6 episodes. It felt like episode 1-3 mixed with the newest trilogy.

Did anyone notice it was Ewan's daughter trying to sell him drugs?

My thoughts:

They definitely owed us at least some saber combat with Obi but fuggin Ewan is still killin it as Obi and was born to play the role.

Third sister is a terrible casting and bitch just flat out cannot act

Child actor is sold. I like the writing.

The woods scene with Flea and company was just awful and I’m hoping that was just a jokey plug bc it was so bad.

That ending scene with Ani/Vader got me chubbed

It was like a straight to VHS kids movie with the adult gangsters tripping over themselves at intentional half-speed.

I think I'm at the point where I'm just over Disney's shows at the moment.

The last two shows I've watched that weren't on Disney+ were Severance and Stranger Things S4 (first 7 episodes). Those shows were well written, directed, and acted. They felt like premium shows with thoughtful writing and deliberate acting.

Disney's shows lately, including Obi-Wan so far, just feel cheap. The acting, writing, and direction is just bad. The action sequences feel like a middle school stage show. They just don't have the same quality that many of these other shows have on other platforms.

Some of the lines and acting in Obi-Wan so far are cringe inducing. The two chase scenes felt like they were produced and choreographed by 8th graders. It just doesn't feel like these Disney+ Star Wars shows (and yes, some of the MCU shows) are receiving the same kind of craftsmanship as other big shows on other streaming services.

Obi wan has been out of the life for 10 years, but it is a little hard to believe in that time he wouldn’t have heard someone say Vader’s name. That is a good point being brought up.

We're supposed to believe that the Inquisitors are known by word of mouth but in 10 years no one's said anything about Vader? Wouldn't Owen have heard something and told Kenobi?

Remember the Outer Rim is like the Bawcomeville of the Star Wars galaxy. They probably don’t get a lot of news

The Outer Rim would still get a wide variety of drifters. Fugitives on the run, bounty hunters, merchants and other assortments of people that would have news of current events.

Obi-Wan was interacting in the city, He wasn't being a full time hermit out of touch. In fact, it would be in his best interest to keep tabs on news from the Empire because he's protecting Luke and if needed, he would have to evacuate him. Owen can bitch all he wants but he can't stop Obi-Wan.

I didn’t realize it was Flea at first; thought it was just a terrible actor.

Turns out it was a good musician who should do us a favor and never ever act again.

I take that R2 isn’t living in Obi-Wan’ cave? That alarm system that pops up resembles R2’s probe.

quote:

“I don't seem to remember ever owning a droid,” Obi-Wan ponders in an early scene from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. He's talking about R2-D2, who crossed the sands of Tatooine to deliver Princess Leia's message and who Luke assumes is the property of the old man.

How would Owen know that Darth Vader is Anakin?

I liked the Mandalorian and the Book of Boba Fette, but this was terrible. I didn't even finish episode 2.

Agreed. It’s not as good as Mando but Mando is damn good TV. This show is pretty damn solid and wayyyyy better than Book of Boba Fett.

You just have the usuals in here who will fricking bitch about any Disney Star Wars show ever since TLJ

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that Darth Vader, at least for some time after the foundation of the empire was kept a secret to the galaxy at large. The inquisitors would know about Vader because he trained them, but outside of that, even some members of the empire may not yet be aware of Vader's existence.

I just watch anything SW and enjoy. Some more than others. This show has been good enough through 2 episodes. Definitely nothing so bad that would make me miserable as many seem to get. It is really an interesting look into the fragility of modern American mens child like psyche.
