Casting is bad. Little Leia looks and runs like a dwarf. The whatever #sister is laughably miscast. The kid who played young Anakin was worlds better than these two.
The writing is pretty shite too. He finds Leia after lucking into a convo with a street kid who takes him to a guy who knows exactly where to go. You can almost see McGregor fighting to give his dialogue a little weight, but there is almost zero for him to work with.
The “action” sequences are pathetically paced and shot. Leia falls off the roof and luckily the bad guys quit shooting and go home. The parkour sequence for the #sister looks like it was choreographed and shot by a middle school AV club. How in the world does a Star Wars property look low budget? The dinosaur bounty h7nter looked like an 80s cartoon.
It is very disappointing so far for this OT fan. I can’t help but watch it, but after skipping out on Book of Boba Fett, I am not regretting that decision. Were Favs and Filoni not involve with this at all?

Just watched it. Yes, the writing is awful, for the reasons you mentioned but also, there's little things like ob1 digging for his light saber in the exact, unmarked spot in the desert and finding it buried 1 foot under the sand. A lot of the dialog is George Lucas level simpleton shite too.

Leia is written like she's 30 years old. That lecture she gives her cousin is nothing remotely close to what a 9 year old girl would say to anyone, nor is most of the shite she says to kenobi. Also, her reason for running from him made no sense. Is she supposed to be super smart or is she stupid?

I also agree that the black chick is a useless block of wood. Being in The Queen's Gambit should not have elevated her career, because she didn't really have anything to do with its success. She's supposed to be evil, but she comes off like some chick who's pissed that they got her order wrong at Wendy's. They try to pump her up with the absurd parkour thing, but it just makes it worse.

I was at least going to give the show props for not being woke, but there we go, halfway through E2, she experiences racism from the literally white guy and of course she ends up killing him, the only interesting villain, because white patriarchy.

Still, the show had some good elements and could be good. It won't be, though, because they're likely not getting rid of her and because the show is run by the kind of people who wanted to show us the rich and vibrant culture of the sand people.

Nothing will change until Kathleen Kennedy is gone. And I'm not even talking about the woke shite - I mean the writing, direction, acting, and overall level of quality of Star Wars content.

Watched again…

I’m not extremely picky when it comes to films or shows. The prequels were my first Star Wars taste and they are my favorite…so I obviously don’t have high standards right? I didn’t mind 7,8,9 that much….they were just whatever.

With that said….I had high hopes for Obi because as my favorite character and that this show “couldn’t” be any worse than the prequel’s that I enjoyed..

I’m holding on and trying not to worry to much but if they frick up obi wan and Vaders awesome history together I’m out and will no longer watch anything SW related in the future unless it’s done by whoever did Rogue One.

The best scene in the first two episodes was the very first one with the teacher kicking some arse briefly and it lasted all but…a min?

I lol'd at how when the 3rd sister was running from rooftop to rooftop she did a backflip forward onto a higher rooftop

just an unnecessary stunt that's doing too much

yeah the forward backflip for no reason really stood out.

If she stays the main villain (presumably besides vader), which it looks like she will, this show is doomed.

Also, it remind me of the mixed messages SW sends about training. Yoda tells Qui-Gon that 9 y/o Anakin is too old to be trained but then eventually agrees to train a 22 y/o Luke to Jedi status in just 3 years. Then Luke starts training on a 10 y/o Ben Solo, a 19 y/o Rey and a 50 y/o Grogu.

Was Lucas just shoe-horning in goofy age rules in Phantom Menace to make Yoda ultimately appear on the right side of history ("I told y'all, we never even should have started training him!") in that he always found Anakin suspect? It certainly would explain the training age inconsistencies.

Yoda also tells Kenobi in ESB that Luke is too old to begin the training. That was only one of about 50 reasons he gives not to begin the training, but it is a reason.

If you look at the prequels, it is apparent that Force sensitive kids are identified very early and begin their training early on.

Once you get past Order 66, and the number of Master Jedi are quickly approaching zero, you can't be quite as a picky and skip over the ones who are older.

They dissolved the Senate when they completed construction on the Death Star. Pretty easy to assume folks will stay in line if you threaten to blow up their planet.

Correct. That whole conversation is about like this:

Tarkin:
The Imperial Senate will no longer be of any concern to us. I have just received word that the Emperor has dissolved the council permanently. The last remnants of the Old Republic have been swept away.

General Tagge:
But that's impossible. How will the Emperor maintain control without the bureaucracy?

Tarkin:
The regional governors now have direct control over their territories. Fear will keep the local systems in line. Fear of this battle station.

See, Elon Musk should focus on purchasing shite people actually enjoy, and righting the wrongs.

If he spent $5B or so and got the star wars franchise, hired competent people that didn't focus on what 0.9% of the population and fans worry about, maybe young minds would be inspired to get to Mars.

Y'know, Star Wars, or even better Star Trek, could be PROFOUNDLY good if Musk owned it.

He could go with early Star Trek (pre-Federation), and in press conferences say "the tech on the show is what I intend to bring within 2 decades. We have the engineering and resources to build stuff, I want the Scifi writers to imagine what we need to build."

Consider- automated mining on big asteroids in the belt, sending raw material to factories on the Moon, to build spacecraft that can competently fly frequent routes to Mars (and maybe Venus). We COULD start doing that now, with the right vision and motivation.
The Enterprise was an exploration craft more than a gunboat.

This Reva girl is so bad. Like she comes off as so fake tough. No way anyone finds her intimidating.

There was never anything low budget in the originals... wait...

Also, the raptor looking bounty hunter is probably based off an alien species that first appeared in the Star Wars comics from the 1970s.

So that was actually a pretty deep cut reference for Star Wars fandom.

I know this is off-topic, but I'll respond-

profoundly good might be the wrong wording. Profoundly inspired may be the better way to say it.

Right now, a whole lot of SF is stale. Just a generic setting for a rehashed tale.

Musk, like him or not, is a bit of a visionary, and I think concepts would flow back and forth from the show creators and him. I suspect there would be a lot of influence on showing "nearly real" technology advancements, a way of displaying what he and his people have on the drawing board.
Having a couple good scifi writers onboard, they might think up other new tech and concepts, that Musk says "hey that would be neat to have, let's figure out how to make that too".

As a kid, I always was excited to get Star Trek gadgets for toys. They were cool.
I'd be very interested in the gadgets that might come from a show that Musk has a hand in; things you don't know you want until you see them.

Official Star Wars social media is now claiming racism because people hate Reva’s character:

There are more than 20 million sentient species in the Star Wars galaxy, don’t choose to be a racist. We are proud to welcome Moses Ingram to the Star Wars family and excited for Reva’s story to unfold. If anyone intends to make her feel in any way unwelcome, we have only one thing to say: we resist.

Yeah bc Mace Windu is such a hated character.

People even liked Finn and wanted him to be a jedi. But instead you stuck him running around with some fat useless broad and made him just another soldier.

frick Disney for calling racism just bc they wrote and directed a shite character.

Yeah, that was disappointing. But every Twitter comment section is filled with shite like that. Pretty much if Twitter is defending something, you know you've found the problem.

Were Hillary Clinton and Kathleen Kennedy having breakfast when they came up with this tweet?
