John Boyega 'didn't agree with the choices' in 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi'

Fans were very much split on it, and coupled with the demise of Luke Skywalker, it added up to disappointment for many.

Now Boyega has admitted that he too was among the disappointed.

"The Force Awakens I think was the beginning of something quite solid, The Last Jedi if I'm being honest I'd say that was feeling a bit iffy for me,” the 27-year-old actor told Hypebeast

“I didn't necessarily agree with a lot of the choices in that and that's something that spoke to Mark [Hamill] a lot about and we had conversations about it. And it was hard for all of us, because we were separated.”

Probably because his character had an intriguing start in TFA and the Rose character ruined him in TLJ.

“They made me film this 40 minute casino scene for 4 months and then it meant absolutely nothing to the plot.”

“Also if this were real life I’d be banging Daisey Ridley wayyyyy before this plain looking Asian chick”

Boyega should be the most pissed off among the actors.

The Force Awakens didn't do him a ton of favors, either but it was at least something one could build on for later movies.

The Last Jedi started him off as a coward, turned him into comic relief and didn't even give him agency over his own decisions as Rose just wrecked his ride, basically told him he was stupid for even trying to be heroic and then forcing herself on him.

Agreed.

The Last Jedi is much more entertaining if you fast forward through the whole casino planet part.

This is my take as well. Posted this on here before:

I know TFA almost identically mirrored A New Hope but I thought it was a pretty nice set up for the upcoming SW films.

- I liked the idea of an errant Storm Trooper defecting.
- I remember being surprised that Kylo took his helmet off so quickly but I thought it was a cool idea that he only wore it because he idolized Vader.
- I thought Snoke was a fine enough overlord.
- And yes, I was interested in the Rey backstory, etc. The ending where she offered Luke the light saber was a chilling moment.
- It introduced a new droid which seemed to become a real popular new character real quick.
- I loved the effects. Seeing the Falcon and all the different types of fighters flying around in dogfights looked exactly like how I think we always envisioned it was supposed to look.

Now, TLJ completely sabotaged each and every one of those plot points, but I enjoyed TFA on its own merits. It's certainly not perfect and I do understand some of the critiques but I think it was a pretty good stand alone film that gets dragged down by TLJ.

As he should. Personally, I think a StormTrooper turned Jedi would have made for a far more compelling story than Rey.

Totally dropped the fricking ball by giving him a legit villain in Phasma and Kyo.

I have never understood this complaint. The US started building battleships with the Indiana class and built roughly 20 more larger and better-equipped classes after that ending with the Iowa class. When something is effective you don't stop building them just because they are destroyed due to a flaw, you fix it and move on. The Death Star was an effective weapon once they were built and would last if it weren't for hidden flaws.

I believe that haters of the current SW movie are insta-labeled "incel". if that won't stick... then sexist, then racist.

I agree, but TFA going the comic relief route and saying he was in sanitation was just as much of a waste of the character.

That is exactly how I feel.

I don't know why JJ Abrams didn't direct the 2nd movie, but we all wish he would have.
