Just heard that actual recordings of songs are being sung by actor (singer?) playing EJ. Why not just blast the real thing thru those movie speakers? No disrespect to the guy playing the part but not interested hearing covers that will never measure up to the perfection of EJ and Taupin together!

If it's a scene of Elton singing live (whether in concert, in the studio, or wherever) you can't just play an actual studio recording or even a released live recording, it would kill the immersion. In Bohemian Rhapsody they used Marc Martel blended in with Freddie's voice to create a new vocal experience (it all sounds new, not suspiciously familiar; that's one reason the film works so well). Let's hope that the vocals in the Elton John movie are done just as well.

So who is playing the young EJ?

She’d better be short and a real bitch to pull it off.

I’m thinking Ellen Page.

Is there any proof that this was in the works before Kingsmen II?
