I like original content, but if Netflix keeps getting rid of more and more of their respectable movies, there will be a point to where it won't be worth it anymore for me.

I can only handle so many B films.

I honestly dont care about the movies on Netflix. Between the original content, and other shows on there, Im perfectly happy. The Office, Its Always Sunny, The Good Place, and The Unabomber are probably all that ive watched in the past month that wasnt original content.

I'll just stick to overpaying Directv and streaming from shady websites.

Netflix has always been shady.

The used to punish excessive movie watchers by claiming they hadn't received the DVDS back in the mail...and they would sit on them and wait a week and then mail off your new ones because their inventory was lower than the demand.

Class action lawsuit and they lost. Because unlimited rentals per month wasn't unlimited rentals.

They controlled how much you could rent despite the prices you were paying.

Damn what a phenomenon. They should call it something like "basic economics"

HBO is $15 and the gold standard of premium channels. I think they'd run into a lot of resistance if they priced themselves higher than HBO.

Netflix has way more content than HBO. Their real competition is Amazon. Its always been cheaper and sometimes you can even get it on sale. Netflix still has them beat in original content and overall selection but you get much more than just movies with Amazon.

Lose all your shows produced by Fox to Hulu?

Raise prices!

Brilliant!

I'd think anywhere North of $15 you'll have to 1) Match HBO in terms of original content and movie selection 2) Sign up for partnerships with channels.

They've gotten rid of far too much over the last 6-9 months. I've watched Netflix less and less. It's still worth it, but with higher prices we need more content. If the selection stays the same, or they become nearly "Netflix Original" only, there's no way that's worth more than $15.

I think the real problem is that NetFlix is broadening their appeal so what many of us see as bad tradeoffs they see as necessary changes in direction. Now that about half the country subscribes to NetFlix they need to pay for shows that many of us sophisticated early adopter types don't like, like Adam Sandler movies and Chuck Lorre sitcoms. They definitely are aiming shows at specific demographics too. I doubt they expected Girl Boss to be a hit with many guys. But they have a stable of CW teen dramas aimed at young women that do well so it probably seemed like an audience to aim for.

If that happens, I might drop it, unless the quality goes up. They might have what, one show a month thats worth watching?

Fair assessment, then someone has to step up and give the sophisticated folks an option....Amazon won't do it either.

If you just browse on their main page, there is nothing.

Same shite forever. Jiro Dreams of Sushi?? Yeah, seen it twice...it's been on the main page for over a year. Time to move on Netflix.

And then even when you search, it shows how limited the selection is.

If you type in Jaws...you get Jaws, Jaws 2, Jaws 3, Jackass number 2 and then Full Metal Jacket...

Jackie Brown and then Bad Grandpa.

And then just type in the letter J and it stopts being titles that start with J after about 20 titles (and most of those are obscure stand-up).

The horror and sci-fi sections have been atrocious for the last 2-3 years. And I watch everything. They get the occasional good indie like Dark Song, but for the most part it's the Z-level stuff. Just give me some good B and C movies.

They gave the Wachowski brothers over $200 million to make 2 seasons of Sense8. That was originally billed as their entry into Scifi and what they got for that money was more LBGT than Scifi. But I'd consider Stranger Things Scifi. NetFlix just has yet to find a show that can sustain success. They also have a rule where they want global distribution rights or they don't want the show. That limits what properties they are able to develop.

It seems like Netflix' inventory is very low lately.. but I dunno.

They use to have some really good movies on there.

Same here. I think I'm paying $9.99. What would I lose by going to the $7.99 plan?

HD. The 7.99 package is in 480p.
