My girlfriend just started game of thrones for the first time ever

She asked me how many seasons there are. Should I save her the Disappointment and just tell her 6?
She just finished episode 1 and I’m watching with her. Jeez I forgot how good this show was early on

first season is the best because they basically went chapter by chapter for each scene and didn't deviate from anything major that was in the book, although a couple of the flashbacks were used later in the series.

I just rewatched the first 4 seasons after the show ended recently. It's amazing. It's stunning how far the quality of the show dropped by the end. It didn't even feel like the same show

the writing is vastly superior early on the closer they stayed to the novels. the more they deviated, the worse it became.
