The Dexter cinematic universe

As for Dexter, McCarthy announced Monday that Showtime has gone straight to series on a prequel series — Dexter: Origins — that will tell the origin story of Michael C. Hall’s serial killer drama that first bowed on Showtime in 2006 and was part of a wave of anti-heroes that captivated viewers. Showtime additionally is developing a new version of Dexter: New Blood, which will “depict the ongoing emergence of Dexter’s son Harrison.” The cabler also said is leaning further into the Dexter franchise that trace the back stories of some of the show’s most iconic characters. This includes John Lithgow’s memorable Trinity Killer. Dexter creator Clyde Phillips, who was behind New Blood and served as showrunner on the first four seasons (which included the Trinity one), will oversee the franchise for Showtime.

Here’s how Showtime describes Dexter: Origins: The series “will dramatize young Dexter Morgan at the outset of his transition into the avenging serial killer he would become. Set in the Miami that was a hotbed of real serial killers of his time, the show will begin as Dexter graduates college to join Miami Metro, where he meets younger versions of many of the characters we came to know in the original Dexter. And, of course, the show will also focus on Dexter’s family, including a very-much-alive Harry and a very formidable, teenage Deb.

The second season of New Blood, which ranks as Showtime’s most-watched series in Showtime history, focuses on Dexter’s son Harrison, who survived his tumultuous reintroduction with his father and flees to New York City where he must wrestle with his own violent nature and whether, like his father, he too is compelled to kill. Dexter: New Blood will explore the kinds of themes and scenarios seen in the original series but through a new lens.

Dexter: Angel Batista Lead Detective.
We follow Angel around Miami solving crimes and shopping for colorful button up shirts and fedoras.

The Dexter spinoff I want is the original showrunners to pretend seasons 6-8 were never made and to have a do-over over those but do it correctly this time.

I love the Dexter series. I thoroughly enjoyed the stand alone season we got last year.
All of this is oversaturation. I'm out...

and Billions is getting 4 spinoffs. What a waste of money

I really enjoyed Dexter: New Blood. I don't know that I need more at this point, though. They finally got a proper ending.

This is way more laughable to me.

When you have Billions, you might as well shoot for Trillions.
Showtime is going all in on Billions as the network maps out four different potential spin-offs, including ones that are titled Millions and Trillions, EW has learned.
When I saw this, I swear I had to check the sources 3x because I thought it was from the Onion
Why 4 spinoffs from Billions? So many good opportunities with other spinoffs
Homeland
Ray Donovan
Shameless
Weeds
Californication
The Affair
Seriously anything else

They fooled me with that last season bullshite they crapped out in 2022. A complete slap in the face to Dexter fans. Gave the base nothing they wanted.

I actually really enjoyed it and thought it was the decent ending we hadn't gotten.

i'm not sure that son (actor) can carry a series.
Also, do we have to watch him eat in every episode?

Nothing is worse than the execs creating a million spin-offs for Yellowstone.

I watched it in the beginning and it was good, is it worth watching the later seasons?

No thanks. If the final 2 seasons and New Blood are the quality we'll be getting, not interested.

Should have a Lumen (Julia Stiles) spin-off
