I probably haven’t seen it since it came out and watched it tonight.

I thought it was very entertaining. And much funnier than I would have thought. I found it pretty much outright hilarious. There are a lot of adult jokes in there (mushy saying he could see through clothes and Mulan slaps him)

It’s very bright and colorful. Mulan is a badass while still being vulnerable/human

I guess there are some story problems. The captain is a complete jackass to her and that seems to quick, no way would she take him after the way he treated her)

I agree actually. Its been a while, but I saw it multiple times when I was younger. The avalanche scene is an all time great.

Good movie with some good music. Loved Eddie Murphy in this. Doubt I’ll watch the live action remake.

Why? It’s one of the few live remakes that looks gold

Agreed. The whole premise is ripe for a live action war film completely unrelated to the Disney film.

Mulan is my GOAT Disney movie.

The lead female character doesn’t feel forced like it does in other movies ... puts her life on the line for her family and her nation.

Also gave us one of the best Disney songs ever -

What I love about it is that not only are the characters fully fleshed out, but they have natural chemistry, and a better “will they/won’t they” than most romance flicks. At the same time, both characters save each other, repeatedly. There’s no stereotypical damsels in distress. Not only that, their feats aren’t unearned. Mulan is no Mary Sue. We see her struggle. We see her work her arse off to keep up and get stronger. We see the all the characters around her struggle and grow as well. Not only that, but you have excellent comedy, a real menacing villain, and an awesome score and visuals to boot. It’s basically a perfect fairy tale adventure movie.

I never saw Mulan. I guess it came out after I was too old to care as a kid, I'll have to watch it on Disney+ with my 3 year old

I have 4 kids... ages range from 25 - 10. I've watched Mulan countless times over the years. All of my kids love it, and I have enjoyed it with them.

Definitely not "just a kids cartoon".

Mulan has always been a criminally underrated Disney movie.

Because the entire story is built around adult themes that have been disney-fied it holds up well and is acceptable for most if not all ages.

The thing I love most is probably the initial main arc. Unlike most Princesses who kickstart their adventure by singing about wanting more or what is lacking from their almost perfect lives. Mulans father is gifted a death sentence and Mulan takes the debt.

It is a beautiful arc of what love is suppose to look like and the depths you are willing to risk in order to protect those that matter most to you.

Me, completely. Watched it a few weeks ago and truly enjoyed it. It's not a BS GIRL POWEr thing, it's a genuinely decent plot, and enjoyable. My son liked it, daughter not so much.

Mulan is my fav Disney animated movie. It seemed more grown up than the others, with the plot " girl joins army as boy because father cant " etc

I was actually looking forward to the live action
