Mike Judge's Tales from the Tour Bus (Max)

Episode 1 was about Johnny Paycheck. An animated account of him shooting a man in a bar over a bowl of turtle soup.
Judge is a country-fried comic genius.

Was stupid to end Beavis and Butthead at their hight.

See, I thought that demonstrated his genius...passing the baton to Hank Hill.

I loved beavis and butthead, I could hardly tolerate hank Peggy and Bobby.

Yeah...I was at the right age to flow into it. KotH had a much larger target audience, plus Fox offered him a shitload more $ than Mtv.
I loved B&B much, much more than KotH...but I was glad to see him reap the reward for one via the other. Man deserved to get PAID.
Eta: B&B last episode was in Dec. 2011.
Holy shite. I had NO idea it lasted past 1998.
Damn.

Adult Swim should have went independent with its own network.
Instead of the return to mtv, they would have had a better home.

Adult Swim had SEVERAL amazing shows to break away with...a shame it didn't become what it could have.

Came back for one (maybe 2?) seasons in 2011. It wasn't a continuous run.

Yep. And it was a solid season. There were supposed to be more episodes from what I remember. It sucks that there weren' more.

KOTH blows everything judge has ever done out of the water. It's the epitome of his comedic genius

This thread was the first I had even heard of this show.
Watched the Johnny Paycheck episode today. Solid entertainment.
Dude was nuts, and he sure did look like Charles Manson.

Watched the first episode on youtube. Pretty crazy. Was not expecting to hear about Paycheck's penis size, but they covered a lot of ground.
Pretty cool concept, though it looks like Judge might really play up the crazy redneck angle.

I found out about this show from this thread. Watched the first episode yesterday, but my expectations were tempered. I'm a pretty solid Judge fan, but I had no expectation the show would be as funny as it turned out to be.
And this is Johnny Paycheck - the potential here is huge if he's able to get as good storytellers as in the first episode. We all know the stories are out there.

The new B&B run was a miracle to happen.. MTV was looking to get the younger guy audience back. But they wouldn't tolerate Judge blasting their programming like they did videos back in the day.
Making fun of bands is one thing, they couldn't handle Judge going after MTV's own stuff like Jeresy Shore, etc.
It was an awesome season.
I havent even heard of the Tour Bus until just now, am going to watch it when I get home.
Judge doesn't flop often, and when he does (Extract, Goode Family) it's still decent. Dude is so funny.

Tonight is Jerry Lee Lewis (not really "country" music, but I guess gets opted in because of Ferriday.)
Next month will include a 2-part George Jones and Tammy Wynette, one on Billy Jo Shaver and Waylon Jennings.
Looks like (real) country music is the focus of this season. I wonder if he can stick with it or will have to pivot to rock stories for future seasons. I mean, we haven't even touched Hank, Hank, Jr., Merle or David Allen Coe - so there is still a lot of country music to mine, if he sticks to 6 episodes per season.

First 2 episodes were magic. Agree with the guy who said Judge is GOAT - including The Goode Family. KOTH also possibly the GOAT. The subtlety of its humor will be studied at the university level at some point. I think fancy society likes to be anti-Texas, so they're unwilling to look at it from the perspective of a loving homage and cheerful sendup and tweaking of foibles by a native son. If it were the same but set in the inner city, then people would be slobbering over it to find deeper meaning.
