Michael Bay Eyed to Direct DC Superhero ‘Lobo’ Movie

quote:

Prolific action director Michael Bay is being eyed to direct his first-ever superhero movie, “Lobo,” which DC and Warner Bros. hope could be their answer to “Deadpool,” multiple insiders told TheWrap exclusively.

Bay met with DC to discuss the project and gave some notes that “Wonder Woman” writer Jason Fuchs will incorporate into a rewrite, the insiders told TheWrap. The studio plans to show the rewrite to Bay to see if they can make a deal, the insiders said.

Hollywood is officially out of ideas. They’re looking for any superhero to make a movie about at this point. Coming soon: Banana man

Getting notes from Bay is an awesome way to know what NOT to add to your script.

Get ready for exceptional character development.

I love Michael Bay’s probing of nuance.

At my nearby theatre:

Fifty Shades Freed
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
Winchester
Maze Runner: The Death Cure
The Greatest Showman
Hostiles
The Post
12 Strong
Den of Thieves
Forever My Girl
Paddington 2
Phantom Thread
Insidious: The Last Key
The Commuter

Wow look at all the comic book movies. Dann I wish Hollywood would stop cramming them down my throat.

Only 9 original movies that aren't sequels or reboots. Man Hollywood is out of ideas.

FYI, Daniel Day Lewis is in Phantom Thread and the movie has great reviews thus far.

How many superhero/comic book movies were playing during the primetime movie months of the last couple of years? I feel like that is when we get flooded with them

Dude, it’s January/February, the time when they dump all the shite they’ve been sitting on.

I don't have much respect for Lobo since he jobbed to Wolverine in Marvel v DC. I mean sure, it was a fan vote thing, but isn't Lobo supposed to be cosmic level?

If you thought you LOVED Zack Snyder running the DCEU then you'll flip when Michael Bay takes the Reigns for Justice League 2: Explosion Boogaloo.

Here at DC, we've heard the complaints. Snyder made stuff too dark and too gritty with a filter over everything. You wanted reactionary studio meddling to the extreme so we got MICHAEL frickING BAY. We promise the next Superhero movie we make will be so full of hot chicks, explosions, Mark Walberg and TV's Dan Cortez there's one fricking way you won't like it. As long as you still don't care about story telling or character building or attention to source material. That's not why people are upset right?

To be fair you pick the only time of the year they don't usually show superhero movies. Last 5 years you have been good for 2-3 in the spring. 3-4 in the summer 1-2 in the fall. Occasional 1 at end of February.

So to point out there are none right now is ignoring the trends of the last 5 years which is just as disingenuous.

Complaining about a film that has about a 2% chance of seeing completion is pretty disingenuous as well.
