New series on Netflix using contemporaneous news footage and contemporary interviews with people involved.

I was 11 at the time so it is part of my childhood memories but I am two episodes in and really enjoying getting a more in-depth look than I had ever bothered with. At the time the 600 or so miles between it and me seemed to be a massive buffer.

I assume it's not quite as dramatic as the Chernobyl mini-series?

If Chernobyl was a malignant brain tumor the size of a golfball, 3 Mile Island was a paper scratch.

Great. Another reason for idiots to hate nuclear energy.

Would you say this show is not great but not terrible?

I will give it a shot, hopefully it doesn't turn into some anti-nuclear propaganda campaign that completely ignores facts...but I may be asking too much from this woke organization

It has interviews with locals who turned anti-nuclear, but I mean, that is an important part of the story.

Just finished this. While a serious incident, I feel like the documentary way over-dramatized the main operator dude and the locals. The NRC dude was their evil villain. I'd have preferred a bit more science.....

I hope they don't woke this up and show all the facts. There was a lot to blame to spread around like the Exxon Valdez.

Not sure all the details but I work for a nuclear plant in Tennessee. They spend quite a bit of time talking about different accidents. I believe that particular event put a hold on any nuclear projects for many years.

I think it held the Browns Ferry plant unit 2 installation off for a long while. There’s was plenty of nuclear scare from that situation.

Now watching Chernobyl it was far worse from a health perspective but I do feel it pushed the Soviet propaganda a little too far. Any country would’ve tried and hide it a bit. Maybe not to the extent Russia did (putting workers life at risk) but nonetheless it seemed a little over the top.
