My brilliant friend @m_giacchino wrote this theme before I ever shot a frame of @TheBatman. I can still remember listening to it in my car with #DylanClark before we went onto the stage to do #RobertPattinson's screen test. We both had chills. Listen now:

Matt Reeves’ new The Batman movie runs two hours and 55 minutes with about eight minutes of credits, insiders at Warner Bros. confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter Thursday.

As such, it’s the longest running time of any solo Batman pic and one of the longest for a superhero movie behind rival Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame, which ran three hours and one minute on its way to becoming the No. 2 top-grossing film of all time at the global box office, not adjusted for inflation.

A number of fan sites have been discussing the running time, which was revealed as a result of the movie receiving a PG-13 rating.

A slew of recent movies have a running time longer than 2:30, which automatically shaves off one show a day.

Great for us fans, but it'll be interesting to see how the GA feels about that. That's a very long film.

I sat in a theater seat for just under 9 hours when TDKR came out (an old school one, not one of the new plush recliners), so I'd say I'm willing to sit through a 3 hour Batman movie.

Definitely going to the recliner theater though.

ETA: TDK was about 2:30 and TDKR was 2:45. I don't think it's that big of a deal.

I miss the days when tentpole movies averaged 90-120 minutes as a norm.

I find this funny considering some of the highest grossing films of all-time, when adjusted for inflation, include Gone With the Wind and The Ten Commandments. Both films clock in at just under four hours in length.

Three hours feels too long for a film as bleak, as dark, and as dreary as The Batman appears in trailers.

As the film draws nearer, I'm beginning to feel like I've seen enough Batman in my lifetime. Adam West in reruns, Michael Keaton, the animated series, Kilmer, Clooney, Bale, Affleck... This may be a jumping-off point, for me.

Also, does anyone find it odd that DC takes a character that kids love and do all they can to keep families away from the box office? (Grim atmosphere, too violent, 3-hour runtime...)

I'm sure any director in charge of a DC movie this days is trying to make their initial offering as long/complete as possible because they know Warner Bros will pull the rug out from under their project before a trilogy can be completed

I enjoy grown up movies. The kids will grow up and can watch it at some other time .

feels like they have been talking this movie up for like 3 years now, and it seems like we get a new trailer every month or so.

I don't even care about this movie anymore, definitely not seeing it in the theaters if it's 3 hours long. I'll be on my couch waiting for a streaming option to watch it, in the dark since i'm sure the entire film will basically be in black and white like every colorless DC movie.

That one felt like it was 5 hours long. I couldn't wait to get out of the theater.

There are, at present, two trailers that have been released by Warner Bros. The first trailer was released in August 2020 and the latest was released in December 2021.

Yes, the pandemic pushed it out a year

There's been 3 trailers, which is normal for any blockbuster

It's been like that since 1989. Thank Tim Burton. I was not allowed to see the first one when it first came out due to being "too young".

So a movie centered on a superhero that only operates at night will be dark? You could be in the movie with that detective work.

That’s my thing. How do you enjoy washing down popcorn with a beverage with 3 hour + movies in the theater?

I’d be constantly worried about having to take a piss in the third act conclusion.
