Some interesting tidbits.

quote:

- “To be fair, if George had known from the beginning he was going to do three movies he would have saved the destruction of the Death Star for the third movie.”

quote:

He considered the fact that he's got a robot hand, they're putting him in all black outfits... he thought Luke was going to fall to the dark side and that was how they were going to top the big reveal at the end of Empire, but showing Luke severely tempted by the dark side (maybe even to the point of killing one of the group), but coming around at the end

quote:

And they didn't like the title Star Wars. They said 'We've done polls and 38% of women ages 18-49 don't like films with the word “Wars” in the title.'”

I'm still waiting for Lucas to FINALLY release anamorphic widescreen versions of the original theatrical movies from 77/80/83.

The originals don't exist anymore. So if you don't have them in VHS, you're screwed.

Not true. Some of us still have them on Laserdisc. I still hook up the old machine to watch the originals with the kids.

He said he really wants them to ground the sequels with practical effects and doesn't want it to look like "Roger Rabbit". He did admit that he doubts they care what he thinks.

There was a special edition dvd release of the trilogy that included the original versions. They used the laserdisc master to create them if I remember correctly.

I payed out the arse to get those dvds but at least I own the originals.

Edit: I really don't see why they can't just do a remastering of the originals and release them relatively untouched.

This is what I want. Bring back the tense samurai-esque duels. Tone down the insanity of the force powers.

This fight scene in tESB is infinitely more tense and dramatic than anything in the new trilogy.

I want to see sword fights, not random sword swinging and hopping around.

One of the top 5 worst parts of the new trilogy.

Now that Lucas is gone, what stops them? And I guarantee Hamill will fight in the new films. If they can make it appear 80 year old Christopher Lee is fighting a jumping frog, they can plaster Hamill's face on another body.

Well, that's a pretty incredible scene to be fair. Like talking to the jawas > than anything in the prequels

Yea, it is pretty much the pinnacle of awesome scenes as far as the OT goes.

I just want the CGI shitfest to stop. I don't want to see massive battles or jedi hopping around like crickets.

Bring it back down to Earth, like Nolan did with Batman. Yea, it involves superpowers and crazy future tech, but that doesn't mean they need to go straight up insane like they did in the prequels.

I still think Yoda's monologue about the force to luke is the best moment in cinematic history.

The Geonosis Arena battle looks straight out of a Disney cartoon.

are they worth keeping?

I seriously threw out a box of VHS tapes yesterday those among them. I had been hoarding them for so long, and don't even own a VHS player. I figured a trash picker would get them.

Now I'm tempted to rush and see if they are still there. I didn't think about that.

meh, $9 on eBay, no biggie, you can find the originals in torrents.
