*Higgins makes parrot sounds*

It’s easier to simply post the link but I had to attempt putting into words what the writers did for this scene.

Senior KGB agent: The man is mad

Higgins: He’s telling the truth. She’s a communist agent come to kill you.

Dr. Tessler looks confused. Senior KGB takes out gun and points it at Dr. Tessler.

Senior KGB Agent: Dr. Tessler. Drop it. You too Magnum before I blow his brains out.

Higgins: She’ll do it anyway.

Magnum raises his gun

Magnum: I know.

Senior KGB Agent turns to pet parrot.

Senior KGB Agent: Merlin! Attack!

Magnum fires but misses the parrot. Parrot rips into Magnum as he struggles to defend himself against vicious colorful bird.

Higgins starts speaking to the parrot by making a sound sort of like a dying deer.

Higgins: YOUUUUUEEEE. OuuuuuEee. eeEEEEEE.

The parrot retreats. Everyone looks towards the sky as the bird flies away.

Senior KGB Agent: Merlin!

Screen cuts to a helicopter flown by T.C. T.C. Sees feathers fly by his window as the bird gets chopped up by the rotar blades.

T.C.: Whoops

Wow. That’s awesome. I’ve been watching a LOT of Mangnum recently (2-6 on Hallmark Murder & Mysteries).

T.C. is a truly fantastic character. As is Higgins.

I've been watching the reruns as well. I forgot how funny Magnum and Higgins' arguments were, and Magnum's interactions with Zeus and Apollo.

I actually remember that!

Higgins impersonated some bird which was a predator to parrots, iirc.

Didn't the KGB agent own WKRP? Or run the afterlife? Or both?

I was a big Magnum watcher when it aired.

Something I'm dealing with now - I'm kind of a Mafia buff as I've gotten older. For those of you who remember the film Casino and are familiar with the skim and, in particular, Anthony "The Ant" Spilotro (Pesci's character in the film, Nicky Santoro was essentially 100% based on Spilotro), his brother (also depicted by a fictionalized version in the same film, the character was named Dominick Santoro) was very good friends with Larry Manetti (Magnum's Rick) and, essentially, best friends with Robert Conrad.

These connections got him bit parts, such as the time Michael Spilotro played a Federal Marshal in a Magnum episode.

Good times...

Still bummed that they never worked out a way for Sam Beckett to leap into Thomas Magnum on Quantum Leap.

One of my favorite Higgins/Magnum back and forths is the Bridge on the River Kwai bit.

Fantastic television that was at times quite serious, but never took itself too seriously. Popcorn television from a better, vanished time.

I'll still catch an episode sometimes that I don't remember seeing over the years. One such episode I just recently watched was Distant Relative in Season 4. It's definitely one of the darker episodes.

One of the first shows to ever discuss PTSD. Some of those Vietnam flashback episodes were pretty damn dark for 80’s prime time TV.

Sylvia Sidney, the same actress who played the old lady whose shitty music saves the world in Mars Attacks.

Just grabbed all 162 episodes in glorious 1080p.

Started at the pilot (which I apparently had never seen)

This is some quality shite. I'm going to slow-roll through the entire series.

For those wondering; the pilot starts out w/ Magnum breaking into Robin Master's house (at Higgin's request for security testing) while 2 nubile blondes are sleeping in the master bedroom, fricking with Zeus and Apollo and stealing the Ferrari which Higgins had booby-trapped.

I mean..does it get any better than that?

That's all in the first 5 minutes.

Over 30 years since that came out...and I can still envision the scene without even needing to click on it. I freaking loved that show.

The Home From The Sea episode makes me cry every time I've seen it.

"I made it dad. Why didn't you?"

My mother worked there at the time and has zero cool stories about the place. Just benefited from their downfall. My dad on the other hand seemed to run elbows with more than a few

The thing about Magnum P I is that Thomas seemed to get trapped into surviving.

1. Gets trapped under an airplane
2. Has to paddle in the ocean to stay above water while waiting for help.
3. Getting stuck in an elevator in two different episodes.

I loved the episode where Higgins is impersonating some other guy and Magnum is like "I know that's you inside there". Searched but couldn't figure out what episode it was.
