I’ll go ask. He lives upstairs from me and I’ve seen him before.

I don’t know what it is about this movie, but I have no desire to see it. Pixar has been dragging recently and their last truly great film was Coco.

I liked Onward. Toy Story 4 was also after Coco.

I disagree completely.
There are only a few Pixar movies that I didn’t like. And they have been on a roll lately.

They tend to always have an individualist theme, and that is so damn refreshing from any movie, but especially a kids movie. And it’s one of the major reasons I am a happy Pixar consumer.

Onward was great and Luca looks interesting enough. Soul looked stupid, I may never get around to watching it.

I wasn’t impressed with Toy Story 4. Major letdown after 3, which was my favorite in the series.

I enjoyed 4. Was nice to see the toys out of their element completely and Forky was money. They could do a mini series with Woody traveling around in that carnival and the shenanigans that would entail in each town/city.

I have a higher bar for Pixar more than most studios. Only A24, Studio Ghibli, and Focus Features do I hold to a higher standard.

I’m not saying they’re bad, they’re just not masterpieces. Again, hold Pixar to a really, really high bar.

Soul shouldn’t have been exclusively released on Disney+, Toy Story 4 should have been. The movie works as an epilogue, but you’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel of toy concepts with the fair, antique stores, and arts and crafts. Those aren’t concepts that we’re naturally interested in. It’s a big step down from toy collectors, toy stores, daycare, and their inevitable fate in the incinerator. Those 4 you want to know about. The movie is fine as it is, but Toy Story 3 ended perfectly, and I don’t think you should have fricked with it.

I have been excited to watch Luca with my girls. I was surprised to see it was already free instead of paying extra initially like Raya. The only problem is my 4 year old seems to have no interest in it.

Because something tells me Disney is punting on this movie. Raya was excellent so it makes sense why they’d charge for that one. But it’s just seeming to me from the start that this is Good Dinosaur level of Pixar. I hadn’t heard about this movie until earlier this month, which that’s pretty strange since Pixar is usually pretty good at marketing their product. You saw Soul everywhere for instance. Chris Stuckmann reviewed it, heavily implied it was allegory for a coming out story, and found it sappy, and that is coming for a bisexual guy too, so I can only imagine how much it will be for the rest of us.

You do know they didn’t want to release Soul like that, right? And Toy Story 4 came out in 2019 before Disney+ launched.

Since Toy Story 3, I’d argue that Walt Disney Animation Studios has been consistently better than Pixar.

Just finished it. Fantastic little movie. Kids enjoyed it a lot more than Raya and the Last Dragon and we paid for that

Great coming of age story of friendship that seemed like a bit of a throwback to 30+ years ago. Also like that the animation was a bit more cartoonish than what Pixar usually does.
