Is a fantastic documentary series.
Trailer
The stories are authentic and tell the other side of the sports stories...the people who supposedly blew it on the sports stage but not in life.
And they're all unique stories...
From boxing to figure skating, curling, distance running, basketball, mushing and golf.
In a "winning is everything" society, how do we handle failure? This series profiles athletes who have turned the agony of defeat into human triumph.
The Miscast Champion: American boxer Michael Bentt suffers a near-fatality in a Championship fight, setting him on a new course to explore themes of triumph and failure with his creativity.
The Jaws of Victory: In England, the beloved (but historically futile) Torquay Gulls soccer team face oblivion on the final day of the season.
Judgement: After a career of defying conventions, French figure skater Surya Bonaly punctuates her final Olympic appearance with an illegal move that makes her a legend.
Stone Cold: In a nail-biter of the 1985 Canadian championship, curler Pat Ryan falls victim to the greatest shot in curling history, “The Hackner Double.” The legacy of that loss would change the sport forever.
Lost in the Desert: In an infamous ultramarathon through the Sahara desert, Italian runner Mauro Prosperi separates from the pack and finds himself lost.
Aliy: Dog musher Aliy Zirkle has never won the grueling, 1000-mile Iditarod race she competes in every year. Despite that, she has an ever-growing legion of fans.
Black Jack: American basketball player Jack Ryan squandered every opportunity to make it as a professional. Instead, he forged a unique path for himself in the game he loves.
The 72nd Hole: French golfer Jean Van De Velde suffers one of the great collapses in sports history at the 1999 Open Championship.

You would never think curling would be that fascinating but the story of how Pat Ryan turned the sport on its head and caused it to change its rules just to stop what he was doing is remarkable.
Also the Jaws of Victory... never has a police dog been so beloved.

Was thinking about checking this out - thanks for the recommendation.
Would love for them to do one on Harvey Haddix. Imagine performing your job at a level never before achieved, at any level, before or since, and still ending up with the L. How do you deal with that?
ETA: Just read Haddix' Wiki entry and discovered this gem, which I hadn't heard before:

After the game, Haddix received many letters of congratulations and support, as well as one from a Texas A&M fraternity which read, in its entirety on university stationery, "Dear Harvey, Tough shite."
